With 3 open scholarships, I think they will land Knox and Harris this weekend. MPJ and Knox will put the full court press on Mohamed Bamba to take his final visit to Mizzou or Brandon McCoy. If we strike out on Bamba, McCoy, or a good grad transfer big, then MPJ convinces Jontay to reclassify. That would be a heck of a class. MPJ, Roberts, Knox, Harris, and BM/MB/JP/grad transfer.

I'd expect all of them to redshirt except Kobie Whiteside. It sounds like the staff thinks he can contribute immediately.

Tigers going after Bama 4* QB commit. Was originally going to graduate early to be an early enrollee for Bama, now planning to wait until NSD before he signs anywhere. Possibly visiting Mizzou in January.

FWIW, predictions on 247 are starting to trend in the Tigers favor for Eron Gordon. Maybe we can land both him and Dembele?

PPG 68 (2015-16), 60 (2014-15)
PA/G 71 (2015-16), 67.9 (2014-15)
RPG 36 (2015-16), 33 (2014-15)
FG% 41.8% (2015-16), 40.3% (2014-15)
FT% 71% (2015-16), 66.6% (2014-15)
APG 13 (2015-16), 12 (2014-15)
TPG 12 (2015-16), 13 (2014-15)
BPG 3 both seasons
SPG 6 both seasons
3PT% 29.5% (2015-16), 32.9% (2014-15)
In summary, we have improved in most statistical categories. 3pt shooting is down and PA/G are both down, however the average margin has improved by 4.9 ppg (from -7.9 to -3). I feel that the last few games they have shown more heart and determination, and part of that may be that they are getting confidence and starting to buy in, which is tough for a young team to do.
I know most won't agree, but I believe it takes 4 years to really judge if a coach is the right fit so he can get all of his own recruits in and get them to buy in. If by year 4 we aren't around the 19-23 win mark, then I would say we need to move on. KA needs to have the opportunity to get all of his own guys in and to get them to buy in though.
For those who are still saying there is no improvement are probably not watching the games because these guys are playing with heart and have actually been somewhat enjoyable to watch the last couple of games.

is anyone doing any flight tracking to try to figure out where negotiations are going down at? Granted they could be done by phone, but I am willing to bet that there will be some face to face with whoever it may be. FWIW, I did do a little search tonight and found a plane leave downtown KC for Houston at 10:12pm, get to Houston at 12:24, and now it's scheduled to head back to downtown KC at 2:40...just found that kind of interesting...

As much as I would like to see Patterson, Herman, or Fuente hired, I think the best move and most seamless transition would be to promote Odom. We could then promote Kul to DC and promote future HOFer, Justin Smith, to DL coach. Henson would then have one year to show major improvement in the offense before looking for a new OC.

Typically, we get 1 or 2 commits at Jr. Day each year. Any word on anyone who might commit on Saturday or Sunday to get this class rolling?

FWIW, there's a new prediction on 247 today for Nate Howard to come to DLZOU...and it's from a Wisconsin Insider :pimp:

Anyone know how many spots we have left? I'm guessing around 5 assuming a few upperclassmen buried on the depth chart transfer out. Who are the 5 people that we have a good shot at that you would want to see in black and gold? For me, it's TBJ, Sapp, Hentges, Jacobs, and either Daniels or Howard. I'd also like to get Martin, but it sounds like he won't qualify.

FWIW, Terrence Phillips is the brother of NBA point guard Brandon Jennings.

Also for Anderson at Mizzou:
4* Gill-Caesar
3* Isabell
3* Allen
Plus he got 4* Wright and 4* Gant to stay committed when they could've gone elsewhere.

I'm not saying it's likely, but there is still a chance, albeit a small one. I'm not holding my breath on it. Just follow me for a minute here. This is how Mizzou gets in if we beat Bama:
UCLA, UGA, Ole Miss, Miss St, and Mich St all are watching championship week from the couch. Mizzou will move past all of these teams. That's +5 spots to #11.
Wisconsin is playing a wounded OSU this week. If Wisconsin wins, we jump both teams. +2 spots to #9.
The committee doesn't have a whole lot of respect for FSU. If Ga Tech wins, we jump FSU for sure, probably Ga Tech as well. +2 spots to #7.
KSU and Baylor play. We jump ahead of the loser. If KSU wins, we should jump ahead of both teams. +1-2 spots to #5-6.
TCU plays ISU and will likely win, but a loss would end their run and move us up 1 more spot. You never know when you face Paul Rhodes.
That brings us to Oregon/Arizona. If Oregon wins, we would jump Arizona putting us in the 4-5 range. Things will get interesting if Arizona wins, both teams may make it in ahead of us.
So, what happens with Bama? Would Missouri move ahead of them? It'll be interesting to see how much the committee values a conference championship game winner in that situation.
Honestly, there's a good chance the big games turn out in Mizzou's favor. I think Wisconsin and Ga Tech will win their games and the KSU/Baylor game will be a toss-up with the edge going to Baylor. The bigger question will be what the committee does if Mizzou, KSU, Ga Tech, and Wisconsin all win this weekend. Things will get crazy and you can bet that the SEC will do all the lobbying it can to get Mizzou AND Bama in at 3 and 4. Is this a likely scenario, no. It is scenario that has a very real possibility of happening though.

If we beat Bama and a few other upsets happen, we'll be in. We need TCU and/or Baylor to lose. Ohio State needs to lose. FSU needs to lose. If that happens and we win, it'll be hard for the committee to keep us out.

With the Davis twins in play, rumors of a potential flip with Hentges, and Doherty possibly committing any day now we could go from having 4 of the top 10 Missouri recruits to having 8 out of 10...and really only missing out on Ofodile.
re: Mizzou Might Have a Shot at the Playoff
Posted by TigerTap5 on 11/30/14 at 12:59 pm
It a really long shot...but definitely a possibility. The winner of the Oregon/Arizona game will get in for sure. If Wisconsin beats tOSU, the Big Ten is likely out of the picture. I suppose Michigan State is a possibility, but I think not playing for the title this weekend hurts them. The ACC will likely not get anyone in if FSU loses...although Georgia Tech will make a strong case by beating two top ten teams in the last two weeks. That brings us to the Big 12. Although Baylor and TCU have had underwhelming wins in recent weeks, the Big 12 has by far the best shot at getting 2 teams in (as crazy and frustrating as it is).
One element that helps Mizzou a ton is the human element. The committee will look at how the team is playing now as well as injuries early in the year. Winning the SEC championship game over the #1 team in the country will give them something to think about. Win convincingly and it would be hard not to push MU into the top 4.
That said, we likely need some help this next week. Here's a list of who we should be rooting for this week:
Wisconsin over OSU
Georgia Tech over FSU
Iowa St over TCU
Kansas St over Baylor

He can come in and provide a quality 10-20 minutes/game. What I remember about him from a few games I went to his freshman year is that he played hard (especially defensively) while out on the floor. He may not have been the best, but he gave his best effort. I have no doubt that he would buy in to KA's philosophy.

Thoughts on Ricky Kreklow possibly transferring back to Mizzou?
