A&M Fans Do You Think Stallings Is In The Film Room For This One?

How close is he to what is going on? Dude has a lot of time to break this one down. If he is in the film room, he could be a wild card in the Texas A&M - Alabama game.
He sort of sounds like the Bobby Lowder of A&M at times, but I don't know.
I do know for a fact he used to read all of the newspapers on Monday and yell at Barry the SID about who was writing things he didn't like in Alabama, even though he always told everybody he never read the papers. So, my point there is what Stallings says, isn't always what Stallings does. He's still a pretty smart cookie.
How close is he with the head coach? Is he around practices some? Do you think he has a role in this game?

Stallings is not that kind of guy.

There are no "Ex Aggies".
Gene Stallings will always be an Aggie in his heart till he dies. I hope he is in the film room.

I didn't mean the Lowder thing in a bad way, I just meant that he has a lot of pull there. He is a good guy, no doubt about that.

He's helping Sumlin install the wing T this week. The gumps won't be expecting that!
I like Stallings and have no issues with his dual allegiance, definitely one of the good guys.

Stallings will be pulling for the Aggies this week, but he'll keep his distance and isn't the kind of guy to meddle in a program.

beyond doubtful. I sure hope no Aggie would even think to ask him for any favors.

probably won't need all the DB's him and Oliver tossed at Miami in the 92 title game
but he's no stranger to what Alabama has over the center in Jesse Williams on defense
that was a key to Alabama's success in 92 in that Miami game, so he knows where the havoc is going to start

I'd say there's about 0% chance Gene Stallings has anything to do with our game prep. Good guy, proud of him, but I just haven't ever had the feeling that he's involved with our program on that level or heard anything ever about him being that involved.

Sumlin already answered a question like this about Jackie.
He basically said he will listen to former coaches who reach out as a courtesy but he isn't really going to do what they tell him.

I don't think he's ever done that either, as far as on the field action goes.
But I remember hearing a lot of rumors in 2010 that then-Regent Stallings was convincing other Regents that A&M should not simply roll over and follow t.u. and company to the then PAC-10, and instead think seriously about joining the SEC. Whether or not that actually happened I don't know but the rumors were quite frequent and loud.

I think Stallings is a big reason why A&M is in the SEC.

Eh. He's campaigned for the SEC since 92. Our president had the most to do with us joining.
