All things Gruden aside - which coach could turn UT around?

Its not really turn around. UT has tons of talent, it is just finding a coach that can utilize it on gameday. Gruden was offered the job after Kiffin left but wouldn't touch the roster that he would have had to coach, the same thing happened with every coach until we got Dooley. Money was never an issue. Things are completely different now.

I don't think Gruden will be UT's next coach. I think he will coach in the NFL. Strong is not a candidate for the UT job either.

As of right now, the list is Gruden 1A and Smart 1B

Thats the only thing Roy has inside info now is Memphis and players at UT that came from Memphis. His best bet of getting info is from a player and a player isn't going to know what Hart is planning or thinking.

Agreed... Roy will spit out a rumor on Volchat faster than he will spit out....well you know...

I do think both would be great pick ups. I just don't think Gruden is worth the $$$, but then again - my opinion isn't worth shite at the end of the day

It's not going to be Smart. I'm pretty sure of that.

I'm honestly not sure if the people saying this are just trying to get reactions or not.

Roy Adams is out of the loop these days. UT has tried to keep him as far away as possible. The only "inside" info he has is on Memphis recruiting.

Dooley has already been informed he won't be back next year, I'm 100% sure about that. Not saying Gruden has agreed to anything yet, but if he had, does anyone think Dave Hart would be parading around and telling everyone before he even fires Dooley?

Hart isn't going to publicly fire Dooley until he has his coach in place whether it be Gruden or God forbid Kirby Smart. If Dooley is fired this Monday after USCe, ill be 100% convinced Gruden has agreed.

Barbara Dooley must be UT's "main money" then.

If UT keeps Dooley (who inherited a dumpster fire btw)they will be forced to give him an extension to help him recruit.

I beg to differ that UT "has plenty of talent". You actually believe that? Ohhhh...you mean talent on offense where games arent won and can be lost?

UT needs help on defense bigtime and really needs a stout DL because UF isnt going away. A secondary with great skillset to enable pressure on qbs would be nice also. Wont repeat ad nasuem about recruiting woes for UT vs Ga, SC & UF. Those are the three teams that will keep taking UTs lunch money until the defense can get some four star and one or two five star recruits.

Its SC getting Clowney, UGA getting Jarvis and Jenkins, Ogletree etc etc and then UF vacuums up four and five star talent and has a poker face at the table. Ut wont win until someone can bring in star studded defensive help. Dooley can do it...but he needs to assure recruits of stability and nothing says crazy like 3 coaches in 5 years.

I think UT's entire 2 deep on Defense is 4* or above. total of 44 4* in a 4 year period.

rivals.com
2009 9 4*
2010 13 4*
2011 12 4*
2012 10 4*

Are you serious? This man has been a thorn in Alabama's side for well over a decade. He was instrumental in the Albert Means case against Alabama.

He's been a thorn in the side of Alabama? How about the folks that actually paid Means off? Maybe you should blame them.

You got caught.

Cromp....how many of those are STILL on the team? When Spiffy Kiffy left...it was chaos, transfers, committs going elsewhere etc. etc. Suspensions and other things also caused weakness on def. I cannot be convinced that UT 30+ 4 star recruits on defense (not counting 2012 because of youth).
Better check the roster out...I will pull out my Lindys & Athlons?

UT got a very LB that UF wanted...he is undersized right now but will be a player.

Maggitt is not really undersized. He is the best player on our defense when healthy. Got turf toe in the opener and has been very limited all year.

you're right Kiffin's 2009 class completely disintegrated, which explains why UT has almost zero contributing seniors.

but UT sells itself to a certain extent and even Dooley signed an average of 11+ 4* players per year during the worst times.

when someone mentions lack of 4* players the first team that pop up in my head is Mississippi State.
