Exactly. And from a Bama fan, one of the only teams that could maybe pull it off. SEC has a family attitude when it comes to that stuff. Texas is in it for themselves.

Go check the numbers. Not just one game. Never mind. Ignore all the facts. Ignore the numbers. Stick to "common sense".
As far as Ernesto is concerned, that fool was a Maoist (as in the millions-of-people-killing ChiCom Mao Zedong). He criticized the Soviets because they had "forgotten Marx." As for getting "kicked" out of Cuba, it was my understanding that Ernesto left to promote communism in other parts of the world (Bolivia). I don't know if he was "kicked" out of Cuba, but, whatever. Your strawman on Ernesto is as much bullshite as your "common sense" argument. You suck at this.

And I can agree with you on this.

All right, I just saw last weeks games on that link.. Tamu and JFF have a lot of buzz going for them right now. I don't think a sample of tv ratings proves who is #1 in the state. I'm coming around though, Tamu is closer to UT than I give them credit for.
Tamu is not their little brother, but I think they should be content with who they are instead of comparing themselves to UT so much.
I'm not gonna win the Che thing. He was a paradox. He just knew he hated capitalism because he saw how it was raping S. America of it's resources while exploiting the cheap labor. There was a ready made ideology in communism to fight what he hated, and he latched onto it. He grew to dislike state communism, but he was still a socialist, he believed in a new man that labored everyday for the betterment of all men. On all his off days he would go dig and labor with the grunts. He made his wife return all gifts. Made his family use public buses instead of a chauffeur. He bad mouthed the Soviets and Fidel removed him from Cuban politics. He went to Africa to start a revolt, failed. Then failed again in Bolivia.

I would add that Guevara was a murdering murderer. Other than that, I don't disagree with what you said on any of that.

No it will never happen. The SEC network is going to be a cash cow and making a single school network would negate the impact the SEC network will have.
Plus, the LHN is proving how terrible the concept and implementation was. Much of their fanbase is very fairweather. You need a fanbase like Alabama or Notre Dame to really pull something like that off. Even then, it would be nothing compared to what is about to come.

I'm also pretty sure the only reason these two providers picked it up is because ESPN waived the fee for subscribers for the first year.

Major TV execs were quoted as saying "1 or 2 football games a year doesn't make a 24 hour network." The whole thing would work if it were a big 12 channel and had more content that people gave a shite about other than 2 shitty 3rd tier Texas football games.

Will any SEC program get a longhorn network type deal?
Bama was going to get this, but they would have been required to show women's basketball games. And Bama would rather no one ever have to be tortured to watch their women's basketball games.

No. If the offending University doesn't like it, they can leave, according to Slive's bylaw "Bye".

Florida has a large enough market. We're good at every major sport and at most minor sports. I think Florida could pull it off.
But does that mean I want us to try? No, not at all...

Is there any SEC program that's the #1 school in a huge-arse state like Texas?
I think you'll find that the reason the Longhorn network is failing is the fact that they aren't the major school in Texas.

I wouldn't think so, but can anyone see a day when one of the big 6 (or another school) gets a longhorn network type TV deal?
Have you heard of the SEC Network???

Why would anyone want one? In all seriousness it is a financial black hole.
Texas only starts to rake in their $15M/year number AFTER all of ESPNs out of pocket expenses have been recouped.
A big rumor going around is that those expenses just got significantly larger because Texas put pressure on ESPN to get wider distribution ... how did LHN get on U-Verse? ESPN gave U-Verse a break on their total package to pick it up and no ESPN is passing that "discount" to U-Verse on to the LHN as part of their expenses that need to be recouped before Texas sees a dime.

Yep. If you really look at the fine print, the LHN was really not a good thing for them.
It has certainly caused more strife than joy so far.
Any objective UT fan will tell you that.

I have heard Foley talk about this and I believe he said they were approached about the possibility when the deal with SunSports ends, but that it wasn't worth upsetting other conference members. UF is probably the only SEC school that could pull it off and I wouldn't mind more coverage of the minor sports, but SunSports combined with ESPNU does a pretty nice job.
