this is a great schedule honestly. It's set up for success. Several inflection points that set up for great exposure as well
Sat. 9/14- vs Alabama
We should be 2-0 heading into this game. The other SEC games that day are MSU @ Auburn and Vandy @ SC. So we are going to be the CBS game and, depending on schedule around the country, may well host Gameday as well
Middle section
whether we win or lose vs Bama, we will then proceed to play a lot of winnable games in a row. SMU is almost a gimme. Arky is going to be with a new coach and schemes and will likely be very average. Bye week leading into another visit to Oxford. Auburn, likely with a new coach, etc, at home followed by Vanderilt at home.
It's not entirely unreasonable to see us run through that section undefeated and be sitting at 7-1 when MSU comes to town.
Sat. 11/23- @ LSU
While we didn't get the move to T-day, we did get LSU the weekend before. Traditionally a lighter day, the SEC has added a lot of conference games next year. However, the games aren't necessarily the most attractive (MSU @ Arky, UK @ UGA, Miz @ OM, Vandy @ UT) and so assuming we are taking care of business with at least a 7-3 record to this point, this should be the CBS game.
Love, love, love this schedule. Love the 8 home games. Love the easier eastern opponents so we can continue to build momentum. Long term I'd like to see us schedule at least one good game OOC but right now we need to continue the momentum we've started and this schedule definitely gives us the opportunity. We just need to make sure we seize it.

Other than ending with Mizzou instead of LSU (which should be fixed next year), love the schedule.
Booked rooms for Ole Miss and LSU.

interesting Q&A with Mark Womack about the schedule
Looks pretty certain that we will get LSU on the last weekend starting in 2014 (as well as SC as cross-div)

That was part of the ‘bridge’ schedule and really part of trying to have either a conference game or a non-conference traditional rival game on the last week of the season that created some issues for us. It created the situation where we had to look at holding off going to those permanent opponents for a year.

I think we just have to look at the last weekend of the season and how that shapes up to try to have games for everyone on that last weekend. We need to take a look at the best way to accomplish that and work to see how we can rotate teams on and off the schedule over a 12-year period.

I like how this schedule looks with our returning (hopefully both OT's and Moore) talent. Could be one of those situations where we catch Bama off guard early.

This is as easy of a schedule as we'll ever get. Only 4 away games, all easy OOC games, a majority of the better opponents at home...wow.

Mizzou has a stadium?!? Then why do they play us at Kyle Field every year?

4 home games in a row

4 home games in a row TWICE!
It's not a sexy schedule but it is the opposite of this year in terms of setting up for success. We have easy OOC. We have lots of time at home. We have 2 weak East teams. We have 2 byes and both of them are mid to late in the season.
It's weird to have the feature home game so early but whatever. Typically Auburn would be a great one but they are likely to still suck next year.
If ever there was a schedule that set up for 10 wins+ this is it. Gotta make it happen now.

That is potentially set up for us to run the table if we manage to beat Alabama in week 3.
While LSU gets a bye week before we go to Baton Rouge, we play New Mexico that week, so it's essentially a bye for us as well.
We get byes before AT Ole Miss and vs. Mississippi State...unless of course Hurricane Gonorrhea postpones our game at Arkansas or one of our opening home games.

It's quite honestly a great fricking schedule! We draw Missouri and Vandy from the east.
Holy shite that's cool!
