Russ Mitchell ?@RussMitchellCFB
Lot of chatter coming out of Alabama about A.J. McCarron's knee. Heard from 3 sources now that there's a meniscus tear #Bama

Russ Mitchell ?@RussMitchellCFB
We're unlikely to get anything frm Saban, who has downplayed the injury. You can also play w/ meniscus damage, although it can effect (cont)

Russ Mitchell ?@RussMitchellCFB
(cont) strength and mobility. McCarron looked OK in practice Mon, but nobody is chasing you in practice. More as it develops

Russ Mitchell ?@RussMitchellCFB
@barrettsallee I don't know...players play w/ meniscus damage, just depends on how bad. Waiting for word frm Bama on if MRI was even done

Something tells me if this were true, this random dude wouldn't be the one breaking the story. For that reason and plenty others, I ain't even scared.

This would suck if it turns out to be true. It won't feel the same from this fan's pov, if AJ can't play.

According to three sources close to the program, Fox's Russ Mitchell reports that Alabama junior QB A.J. McCarron suffered a torn meniscus in his knee during Saturday's game against Tennessee.
Quarterbacks are able to play with meniscus injuries, but it certainly will limit McCarron's mobility. Head coach Nick Saban has called the injury a "knee bruise" and McCarron did practice on Monday. Don't expect to hear an official announcement on the issue, as some teams tend to be tight-lipped on these things.

This is a guy trying to start a story where there is none. They put a brace on McCarron's knee and he went in on our very next series. Plus, he practiced yesterday and there has been no word from the team on any negative side effects. I'm not worried. The dude played through an injury to his throwing shoulder for 9 or 10 games last year - then had surgery after the championship game on it.

AJ will be fine.

If anything, Bama could just rest AJ for the next 2 weeks, let him play for the LSU game, then rest him till the off-season. It's not like it would change the outcome for the rest of the games.

i have a slightly torn meniscus now that i just live with cause i dont have time to get it cleaned out, can still run, plant, etc.. just tweaks some times. My wife is running around with her acl hanging by a thread, strong leg muscles compensating for the lack of stability

I'm going to assume no one remembers A.J. going back into the game after the injury on Saturday. Or that Coach Saban said it was a bruise. He's never withheld injury information. Why start now?

It's not that people don't think he can't play through it..but Saban would be wise to downplay/cover up the injury if it is indeed a torn meniscus.

AJ could still play but it would be a huge risk IMO

And fwiw i hope he is 100% okay. LSU beating Bama without their top quarterback in the game or at less than his best would be a letdown to me
