The older three — Frank, George and Whit — went to Tennessee. The younger three — Justin, Billy and Conn — went to Mississippi State. A half-century later, on the eve of another Mississippi State-Tennessee game Saturday in Starkville, they may well be the largest set of siblings that have ever played the sport on such a high level.
quote:
"They are the greatest football family that ever came out of Memphis," said Billy Tagg, a cousin. "And I'm not sure they're not the greatest to ever play the game of college football."

Another great family in football all attended Ole Miss were: Paige Cothren . His uncles, Buster, Ray and Barney Poole, were All-Americans at Ole Miss and would eventually star for various teams in the NFL. One of the Pooles played at 3 different colleges and was All American at each 3.
Paige was the first player to sign a contract with the NO Saints.

I don't remember their being so many of them and only remember Justin. He was #63 and was our place kicker in addition to be our offensive guard that played in the 1963 Liberty Bowl against NC State when the game was still played in Philadelphia, Pa.

There's a 1 in 64 chance that any random person in Memphis is either a Canale or related to one.
