I'm actually impressed with the lack of meltdown on this board. Some of the others I visit are much worse.

Saw this name and lol'd a little: Phil Fulmer. Might be worth it just to rile the Bammers up......

I gotta ask...does someone in the athletic department ask chizik, "what the frick is going on? AU has never played this bad. What the frick are you doing?". It seems like with his press conferences no one gives him any shite.

While we're still a good destination for a coach, it just feels like there aren't any true homeruns out there. Barring getting a Gruden pipe dream type coach (and Petrino and Butch Davis do not qualify folks), it just feels like the options out there are meh. It won't help that we're going to be competing with Arkansas, Tennessee and maybe Texas for a coach.

Seriously, how many home run hires actually occur in a given year in regards to football? I'm talking about a hire where people say "wow this coach changes everything" My point is Nick Saban like hires don't occur very often.

Saban isn't going to leave Bama. He already made the mistake once in his career of leaving after he built LSU into a dominant program. It's not gonna happen again

What about Jeff Bower the former Southern Miss coach? I haven't heard his name in a long time.

I'd consider a Nick Saban type hire more in the category of a grand slam than a home run. Grand slams change games, home runs just add to the score. While certainly a big positive, they don't guarantee wins by themselves.

Anyone throw out Pete Carmichael's name? He might be willing to jump ship at the Saints to head coach for a few years.

Rex Ryan?

Might as well put Lane Kiffen on the list too. I mean if we're going to put big talkers who deliver jack and shite on the list, we might as well do this right.

We'll be going head to head against Arkansas and Tennessee for those few top coaches.

Not worried about competing with Arkansas for a coach. Our program is traditionally more powerful than Arkansas and we're located in a much more fertile recruiting ground.

the problem with a guy like that is that he would HAVE to hire southern guys to help with the pipeline recruiting. He has never been out of the northeast and he would have a tough time bringing in quality guys.

Who ever we hire as head coach, better be pulling down all of the 2010 NC banners his first day on the job.

There was a thread regarding him on the Georgia Board which got me to thinking . . . He interviewed in 2008 and if the AD is cleaned out I think we could get him.

He is an older, proven winner who I think could go head-to-head with Saban, which is what we need in a coach. I don't think he'll tolerate the in-state foolishness from the media and fans and will run a pretty tight ship.

He is my choice for the next Auburn Head Coach
