Do you think we could pull him from Iowa State? Sounds risky after having Chizik fall on his face, but he's been at Auburn before, all the players love him, and he's turned around that program.

Just take a look at these videos...

How could anyone NOT want to play for a great guy like this?

Honestly, I'd love to have him right now.

Paul Rhodes defense at Auburn sucked if I remember correctly.

You don't remember correctly.

Despite the ineptitude of our offense that year and the amount of time we had to keep our D on the field, Rhoads D was solid.

Finish 15th in PPG allowed.
Finished 27th in YPG allowed.
Finished 20th in Pass D.

Don't even care where they finished, which it looks like he did ok. Those defenses belonged to Tubs. I think he's doing a good job so far as a HC. That's what we need right now.

Apparently ole Tubbs forgot how to coach defense since leaving Auburn.

2010 - 30 ppg
2011 - 39 ppg

Or he's at Texas Tech now. Either way, the defense was always solid under his watch here with whatever d-coordinator he had.

Always thought Auburn should have fought to keep him as DC when Tubs left. Of course, it's hard to convince a guy not to take the HC job in his home state.

This is a bandwagon I can get on. I loved him when he was at Auburn, and he's done a good job at Iowa State.

Let him take over Chizik's players again, and teach them fundamentals.

He won't leave Iowa State unless they fire him. He loves it there and he took a 10 year contract to prove it.

Here are the terms of Paul Rhoads' current deal at ISU.

And here are the terms of his original deal in 2009 when he replaced Chizik.

Let me see...hire a guy who wants to be at your school...pay him $1 million a year to start, with a lot of incentives...once he's proved he can do the job AND is committed to sticking around, lock him into a long-term deal (still well below the league average).

What a stupid fricking idea. Glad I didn't think of that.

One problem, you can do that when you are Iowa State and are a doormat, but you can't hire a quality, big time coach at AU by appearing cheap. Iowa State may have hit a home run with Paul Rhoades, but see how long he stays there when a big time program with a big time wallet comes calling

I think he will be there for a while. Not too sure he would want the second tour with AU.

This. And those ranks are pretty remarkable considering our offense was only marginally better than this year and kept that defense on the field all the time.

He will more than likely be there a while. He is an Iowa boy, and made the statement in the past that coaching in iowa was a dream job. I liked him when he was here at AU, one of the people I wish chiz never would have released from the old staff. moreso when you think he traded rhoades for roof.
