@ITATJason: Coach Tommy Thigpen said Kris Frost is coming on and could see time in base defense against Arkansas

Looks that way. Thig made it sounds like he is starting to come along.

nope. I think Kris is a pipedream that the coaches are just hanging over our heads.

Kris Frost is the Kyle Frazier of the defense. What else could it be if be can't beat out Jake Holland?!?!?!

Besides the fact that they play different positions? No idea.

It depends on what Arkansas tries to do. If Arkansas stays in a no huddle offense then I don't see the coaches being willing to allow him to potentially play an entire series unless we're way ahead or way behind.

From al.com re: Mike Blakely. . . thought this would also fall in the, "don't get your hopes up, but - category"

I won't let facts get in the way..... Seriously, I thought he was in the rotation at MLB or is that Casanova?

Frost plays Outside, Cass plays Mike.
And Cass still has a lot to learn in coverage before I'd be ready to plug him in at middle on a consistent basis.

Jake Holland reminds me of the Jason Miska days.....

I will believe it when I see it.

Mike Blakely.
Should have been running against LSU

Riiight. He'll share time until he fumbles, and then he'll be benched for the next three games.
Just another thing that bothers me about Chizik. Guys make a mistake, and our coaches tend to give up on them. Blakely fumbled against ULM, and we haven't seen him since. Coates dropped the long pass against LSU, and he never got another pass thrown his way (although granted, this could be largely contributed to the fact that Frazier only sees one WR on each passing play). Seems like anytime somebody makes a mistake, he gets the doghouse treatment.
I get it. As a coach, you're looking for consistency and the guys that you can count on. Sure, the amounts of touches should probably decrease until those guys show they can make the plays on a consistent basis, but players like Blakely and Coates NEED to be involved for this offense to have any chance of improving as the season progresses. Those are two of our most talented offensive players, IMO.

Ross would be my bet. He's a sneaky little fella.

Unless you are inferring that CHiz told KF not to throw to Coates, I dont see how this is an example of coaches giving up on them or being in the doghouse.
Au has two RBS with out a brace on their arm...that is why they are playing. Coates needs to make himself a part of the game. HE beat his man and Frazier threw a perfect ball to him...he dropped it.
Saying anything else but Coates fricked up is just dumb.

See Fraizer and Holland.

Whomever it is, I thank them.
ETA: although, if there is going to be a question mark at the end of the sentence, it should read "but could Frost see time against Arkansas?"

No doubt. Nobody is saying it wasn't Coates' fault. He's got to catch that. But that was the ONLY time he was targeted the entire night — a week after jumping over everyone to catch a Hail Mary pass in the end zone and nearly coming up with another diving TD pass against ULM. The guy needs to be incorporated more into the offense. Is the only way we can get the guy the ball is by throwing the ball up to him on a go route? It feels like deja vu with Trovon Reed only getting the ball on reverses the last two seasons. But like I said, Frazier isn't going through any of his reads, so Coates could be wide open or in 1-on-1 situations every other play for all I know.
But again, for this offense to have any hopes of improving, players like Coates and Blakely need to be getting a ton of reps if they're healthy.
