would it be recommended to just go downtown to watch the game or are there any places around the stadium (bars, restaurants) that would be okay?
there are many private tailgates w/ big screens that have people that don't go to the game. i would imagine that would be more the case. i'm sure you can poach on someone so long as you bring your own beer and are civil.

Hard to recommend 5 Points anymore at all... It looks more like Compton down there now. Sad, sad.

Yeah win or lose 5 points is going to be a virtual police state this weekend.

It's especially bad if you're white.

We have a 14 foot screen with a HD projector at our tailgate...if you need a place to watch it, you'd be more than welcome to join. It's a mixed tailgate with Dawgs and Gamecocks, but we're generally good natured folks. Most everyone is late 20's or 30's, if you're cool with that. BYOB or 5 bucks to drink off the kegs...

Where will you be? I'm planning on going to the game but do not have a ticket so if I can't find one before the game I may have to swing by.
Also, for all UGA fans, definitely DO NOT go to 5 Points unless you won't be wearing UGA colors and will not be openly cheering for the Dawgs. The Vista will be fine though.

We're down behind Budweiser off of Brookwood; not real scenic as we're surrounded by chain link, but we have plenty of space. I'll be in UGA stadium pants (khakis with G's embroidered on 'em), so find me out and introduce yourself if you want to stop by...some of the guys can get a little territorial if random folks that no one knows show up and start drinking/eating all of our stuff.

I know SC fans have a reputation of being hospitable but UGA and CU fans generally have an opposite perception.. going into the heart of drunken students is asking for trouble.
THIS. Seriously.
Also, it isn't worth going to Columbia if you don't stop by Little Pigs at some point during the trip. Best barbeque I have ever had.

I prefer the Palmetto Pig...and Green River in Tryon, NC.

the thugs that have taken over 5 Points are agnostic to college sports. it's all about the Benjamins.

Captain Sharp and the CPD are going to have 5 Points ON LOCK...anyone who even looks under 18 will get slammed for violating curfew and anyone stepping out of line will feel the overly heavy hand of the 5 Points PD.

The Loose Cockaboose off S. Stadium Road ( road between the BP and the Carolina Walk condos) is by the stadium and has several tv's and if im not mistaken has a projector screen outback to watch the game

How much does parking cost at the arena?
Posted on 10/3/12 at 8:41 pm to JoLeUGA
I actually think that parking at the arena is free, but it's a few bucks if you want to shuttle over (worth it, if you're going to park out there).

Yeah took it once for a baseball game and was only $2 or so.
If you do take it be prepared to wait in line for a while on the return trip as thousands of people are looking to get back to the same place.
With that said they have a fair amount of buses operating and they're pretty efficient.

I'm heading up on Friday.... about what time do you think would be a good time to head to park at the arena? I was thinking 8/830 in the morning on Saturday.

You are a god among men...I'm going to my tailgate spot at about noon and I will be sleeping until at LEAST 10.

Sounds good, maybe I'll see y'all on Saturday

Was referring more to the legions of drunk students that will be down there (I assume, I've never been in 5 Points during a game). They wouldn't take too kindly to an opposing fan, especially a UGA one. I remember being in the Pav's parking lot the night before the Bama game in 2010 and seeing a near riot break out because some guys on the Salty Nut porch were wearing Bama gear.
