This is an honest question and hopefully I'll get some honest answers.

Do Arkansas fans think that the defense would be any better with Petrino as HC considering that you still have all of the same assistant D coaches? Someone mentioned on Memphis Sports56 today that Petrino didn't have anything to do with the defensive side of the ball and it got me to thinking. I want to know what Arkansas fans think.

this. they were scared to fail because they knew he'd bring down the wrath on them if they did.

Would it have been better? Hard not to be better than what we're watching now.

Would it have been a "good" defense? Ehhhhh...

they would be better prepared, even though he didn't work on the defensive side. his practices would have been much more effective than whatever the frick they are doing now... a hell of a lot more snaps in each session I'm sure.

People always say BP never had anything to do with defense. I think that's false. It'd be like saying Saban has nothing to do with Bama's offense. Biggest difference this year to last is not being able to make adjustments, on either side of the ball. This is where not having Petrino hurts the most, overall game planning.

This. People need to understand that he was a football coach who preferred offense, but he also knew the defense had to be good enough to compete. We won 3 games last year because he took over the defense at half time. I promise that he would have the fear of god in this whole operation if he were around.

Thanks guys. I have to say that I agree. It may not be a great defense but it would have been better than what you have now.

IMO, it wouldn't make much a difference. Petrino would have a shite ton of distractions at home and he would probably be out of it.

The offense would be better giving the defense less time to screw it up.

The only time our defense was good under petrino was when we had a good running game.

With this O line and Knile not himself, I think if Petrino was here the D isnt this bad but it is still near the bottom of the SEC

What if the wreck had never happened, or if he hadn't cheated? I think it would have been much better in that case and even some better as things stand now.

Of course their defense would play better. Football is just about as mentally draining as it is physically, people underestimate that way too often. Any coach will tell you the same. When BP pulled his shite and got fired that team went to shambles, look at the Saints without Payton as well for another prime example.

Just stop comparing petrino to saban. You look like a fool when you do.

Our defense sucked under petrino and it would have again this year even with petrino. Reason? Very little talent brought in on that side of the ball.

The ONLY difference is our offensive line is even worse this year oh and weve apoarently decided to stop running the ball so our d is on the field longer, making them look worse than the bad that they are.

Petrino should never be mentioned in the same breath as saban or even miles.

Curious as to when this ever occurred under Petrino.

I hope you're not referring to 2010.

Never compared the two. My point is Saban is known for defense and Petrino for offense. That doesn't mean they have no impact on the other side of the ball.

Did our D suck under Petrino? Yeah, but we always seemed to make enough adjustments to win games. That isn't happening now.
