I have talked to two sources in the past 24 hours who have told me there is a lot of back channel negotiations between Arkansas Alumni and Charlie Strong at the moment. It appears the Razorbacks could offer as much as $4M per year. I am told Strong is very interested in making this move for a number of reasons. It appears the future of the Big East will be the main reason for making a move. Currently there are no guarantees Louisville will make a move to the Big 12 and the Big East will likely lose their BCS bid in the future. Remember, Strong is a native of Arkansas and played college football at Central Arkansas.

Would be an excellent hire IMO and a smart move by Strong. He actually might make the Hogs competitive quickly in the SEC West

You go from a coach that almost had Louisville playing for the NC to a coach that hasn't won anything at Louisville yet. John L. Smith didn't win anything at Louisville either.

Seems unneccesary. He makes like 2.3 now, would Louisville really try to keep him for a little over 3 mil or so? That would be an interesting hire though, we interviewed him for our job.

You can't discount the fact that this "information" comes from a UK website. Not exactly the most objective of sources when discussing a UL coach, especially one that 'Cat fans would LOVE to see somewhere else.

I think Strong is a solid coach and would be on anyone's short list, and given the uncertainty of UL's league affiliation, it's only natural that he would keep his eye open for possible moves. Having said that, however, Strong is a high-character guy who undoubtedly feels a lot of loyalty to Tom Jurich and UL for giving him a shot when so many others had passed him over. I don't think he'll jump at the first thing to come along and will think long and hard before leaving UL.

Given that he's from Arkansas, I'm sure the job would be attractive, but I wouldn't consider it a slam dunk that he would take it. A lot might depend on the possibility of a UL move to a new league.

4 million is a lot for an unproven coach. That aside, it would be a solid move. I always liked Arky...glad that I can pull for yall again now that frickhead is gone.
