I watched the game intently and watched the play in the trenches cause thats where the games are won....period.

Fact: Vandys OL sucked badly and caused them to lose.

Fact: USC faced a very fired up Vandy team on the road on a thurs night national tv game.

Fact: USCs OL was good enough to keep pass rush from sacking qb most of the time and at times opened huge holes for Latty...but in second half the USC OL looked very tired.

Fact: USCs DL is pretty stout and will win them some games if they can keep qb healthy. Option read is going to get that kid killed.

Fact: Because of USCs defense...Vandy had to use finesse offense and finally gave up trying to run the ball with Stacey...he was getting beat up at times.

Opinion: USC will be decent..8-4 is about right and if Latty improves and qb isnt dead...9-3 could happen.

@ Vanderbilt
vs ECU
vs UAB
vs Mizzou
@ Kentucky
vs UGA
@ LSU
@ Florida
vs Tenn
vs Arkansas
vs Wofford
@ Clemson

IMO, nothing's changed. If anything, the OL is looking a little worse than I was expecting it to, but it's due to youth/inexperience, and that generally takes care of itself as the season progresses. I feel like we wouldv'e had more of a passing game, but Connor hurting his shoulder played into that.

The good thing is that we now know that Lattimore is officially a big-impact player again. He will gain confidence from this game, and will be a big contributor as we go.

We have ECU, UAB, Missouri, and UK next on our schedule. Mizzou is the only one that concerns me truly: ECU's passing game could also possibly be a problem. IMO, we have plenty of time to correct these correctable mistakes before the rough patch starting with UGA comes up...

Both Shaw and back-up RB Miles will heal from their dings and bruises this week. Wilds is reportedly a possibility for ECU next week, but definitely will be back by the UAB game. Auguste hopefully will be back by UGA.

The other youngsters will have a little breathing room to work on their games and gain some confidence. This was what I was expecting to happen before the season started, anyways..

South Carolina has a great rush defense and a very average pass defense. Arkansas will exploit that often, IMHO. Lattimore looked awesome, as usual, and the QB Shaw has some guts. Not the most talented arm in the world, but he is a gamer and took some punishment to make plays and help his team win the game. He's not going to be able to do that against bigger defenses though, and somebody like Jarvis Jones will probably be his undoing.

I think South Carolina still finishes in the top 25 and will win a mid-tier bowl game, but they don't look like a top 10 team right now, IMHO.

Am I the only one that thought that Latt looked a little slower than before?

Based on last night's performance, 7-5 or 8-4. Connor Shaw had better learn to put some zip on his throws or it's going to be a very long year. But sometimes it takes a performance like that to get a team on the right track. Also, Vanderbilt looked pretty good.

At what?

First downs?
Yards per carry?
Total yards?
OL? Sacks given up?

I'm not sure what some are seeing in Vandy. They scored one touchdown. They appear to still be Vandy with a hyper coach that does cool ceremonies for walk-ons getting scholarships (doesn't every team do that though).

USC is not a bad team and Vanderbilt's defense performed better than I expected.

I'm going to wait to declare Vandy's defense anything.

With Shaw hurt and no passing game at all (where are the WRs for USC) I don't think it was a good indication of much. They certainly didn't stop the running game.

I'm still perplexed how Spurrier hasn't been able to develop a QB at USCe that can throw the football without being a head case. Does he just not trust anyone anymore? Freakin' Casey Dick put up some decent games once we switched offenses...I find it hard to believe Spurrier couldn't find SOMEONE that he could trust enough to sling it around more.

Agreed, but Lattimore had 23 carries for 110 yards rushing and 23 yards receiving. His longest run was 29 yards and only had 65 yards until much later in the game. Shaw only threw 11 times and completed 7 for only 67 yards. I'm not sure why unless it was due to his arm being injured.

I don't know about SC after last night. They did not look as athletic and physical as I figured they would. Lattimore is NOT at 100%. Shaw's shoulder problem will be an issue the rest of the season. O line had problems with Vandy's D. All of this does not bode well.

Lattimore looked awesome

I thought he looked like he lost a step. But that could be because of the wet turf. He looked good on that one long run, but he never really took over the game like I've seen him do before. The jury is still out on him, imo.

Dear Arky and UGA, you beat Vandy by 3 and 5 points last year. Just thought you might have forgotten.

All depends on how well Shaw bounces back. Pretty obvious that it isn't Lattimore that they need the most. If Shaw bounces back, I'll say 9-3 to 8-4. If he doesn't, the wheels could fall off quickly.

Yes but they don't always let someone film it and put it on youtube though.
