He was not projected to start. Showers was ahead of him in the spring, still is, and probably always will be. Manziel will end up at WR.

Texas A&M better hope Showers doesn't get hurt then.

State is fine, Dan Mullen has his team on lock down through Camp.

Every football team hopes their starting QB doesn't get hurt. That's pretty much a statement of the blindingly obvious, so I fail to see how it's a particularly salient observation when made about A&M.

Yeah, I mean, Showers is the best right now, so it wouldn't be awesome if he got hurt, but if he did, we'd roll in Matt Davis, who was recruited by everyone. Davis is a Fish, but Showers is just a Soph with only like 4 snaps of game time, so it isn't as if the guy is a veteran signal-caller.

The story with Manziel, BTW, is that the guy was/is a high school legend. One of those guys whose highlights were played on the news every week. But, he's like 5'10", and he played for a small HS in BFE where he dominated his competition by being a better athlete and scrambling all the time. I watched him in the spring at two scrimmages and he looked like poop. Sumlin's system doesn't really value scrambling - he needs a quick decision maker with an arm. Manziel's too good of an athlete to not see the field though, so most rational folks (and I have to say that because Manziel is still worshipped by a legion of fanboys who refer to him as Johnny Football) see his future as a reciever or a transfer.

Considering your starter threw less than 40 passes last year and all of his backups have never taken a snap in college there is a HUGE difference. Add the fact they will be going agdinst SEC defenses.

It's not the same as LSU last year where they had an experienced backup.

A&M loses Showers they may not win 5 games

Showers has nada for experience in gametime either.

If by "less than 40 passes" you really mean like 4 snaps, you're right.

Plus, they're ALL new to the system.

So it's pretty much a wash except that Showers looks best right now and he's a year or two older.

I agree that it would hurt, but it's not as big a deal as you make it out to be because none of our QBs has college game experience, none is a veteran college leader, and none knew this syetem before this spring.

If you want to know what would hurt A&M, it would be losing one of our star OL. Much moreso than our QB, who is going to be raw no matter who it is.

There's a "HUGE" difference between the experience of a player who didn't play and one who only threw a few passes last season? I think you're failing to grasp that all of A&M's QBs are totally inexperienced, including Showers who looks to be the starter.
