It is about expanding your footprint and TV audiences and Miami is a huge no..They bring nada to the table. NC is a huge state along with VA. So look for those two states to be prime..and no, Duke or Wake are not options either

If we expand like we did last time, I think the choice is obvious. New states where we don't have a presence, and new markets.
Virginia and UNC. Va Tech may be a more obvious choice than Virginia but Virginia would be a prestige add, academically.
Plus you'd rather have THE University of ______. Right Auburn?

Florida St and Miami would be good.

I think I would like Va Tech and UVA.

If TD's were around back then, we might have avoided adding ARKY.

I thought vt and unc/nc state would be slam dunks.
But rumors(oh yes those) say the tv deal was not sweetened that much by adding aggies/mizzou and that expanding over 12 created lots of scheduling issues.
If the new playoff is huge money per conference, the more teams in your conf the less each team gets.
So i am not sure vt/nc state move the needle enough for the sec to do it. My bet is slive studies it very carefully before pulling the trigger.
Notre Dame would be a no brainer. OU has a 13 year GOR, so they are not going anywhere. And to take OU, you have to take okie state too. Thats what kept OU from going to the pac 12. Pac didnt want okie state.
SEC has 14 teams. that is a lot of teams. 16 may be too many. Personally i hope the big 12 takes fsu/clemson and stops at 12 for at least 2 years. then if things warrant it, raid the acc again. I dont see the rush.
Ppl are saying ND to the big 12. i cant see the irish in morgantown, lubbock, manhatten kansas, ames iowa on a regular basis. Doubt it happens.

uva (and the va state government) held a coup to get vt in the acc. vt cannot run to the next "better" offer unless uva gets an equal offer.
thus vt/uva would either both get sec offers, or vt would get the sec offer and uva would get one to the B1G.
Could we get just UVA? Or would VT go kicking and screaming to the state government again?
The only good thing about adding VT would be Beamers "aww shucks we got our butt whooped again" face.
And considering only once in their history have they beaten a top 5 team, we would get to see that very often.
I think VT would be better off in the Big 12 anyway so they can renew the rivalry with WVU

The next logical big tv markets will be NCSt and Miami.
Remember, the only thing that matters are eyes on tvs.

I agree with this except for the Oklahoma schools for selfish reasons because it would be a big blow to A&M recruiting. From a general conference standpoint OU would be a very good add though.
Yes, OU would be a good add. However, politically, OU comes to tied to Okie State. Together, they don't fill any need - TV sets, recruiting grounds, nothing. OU is a decent school, but OSU is very poor academically, so it's a miss there as well. Only OU has a national following. The only benefit would be to damage Conference Bevo. Bottom line, they wouldn't bring enough $$ with them to make it worthwhile, and it's just not an attractive package. Not meant as an insult to either institution, just thinking from the perspective of the conference. The best options for expansion lie east.

frick OU, worst fans in college football.

OKy, and OKy St aren't coming, and the people that talk about TV money look at states and not fans. FSU is the clear leader in new revenue, and TX would be a slam dunk, but they will want to run the show, which basically elimantes them.
In my view the only reason to expand would be to add FSU, TX, or maybe VT. If you can't get those then to hell with it..

Miami would be awful. I don't get why anyone would want them in the SEC. Talk about not fitting in...

I think the obvious choice for #15 would be North Carolina. #16 is a little trickier. Probably settle on VT. OU would be ideal, but don't think they go without OSU.

I would like them to maybe go west with a pr like Okie state and baylor.

VT would kick and scream but the flagship school can do what it wants

they avoid us like we are the plague they want no part of us. That rivarly was one of the most heated in the country most fans of both teams dislike each other 7 years later in every walk of life

The SEC will get Va Tech and one of the NC schools. Clemson, Miami will not happen.

That was just the CBS deal, which was never going up by much anyway. That's already in all the markets we expanded to.
The money's gonna be coming from the tier two and three rights, which we're in the process of negotiating with ESPN.
