To answer a few questions.
Not based on a punch-based on a punch when he was already on thin ice for sexual assault of a 14 year old.
Look at what patterson has done with almost no talent in the Mountain West-beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, beaten OU in Norman, Clemson in Death valley.
He has done a lot with a shoestring.
LSU is an elite college brand. A top 10 brand. La. has elite talent all over the place-and every kid here grows up wanting to play for LSU.
You dont have to forego discipline to win a national title here. La. has more talent than the state of Alabama and it isnt close. In fact it didnt take Saban long at LSU to win a title.
And he is demanding and disciplined. In fact WVU-my favorite team-has a player Saban booted off his team. WVU has to take those kings of chances to try and keep up with the LSU's, Texas, and Bama's, but LSU does not(or should not) have to.
Ive lived in new orleans over 30 years and follow lsu closely. Pull for them except on the rare occasion they play WVU. But im not a fan of how Miles handled this and it reeks of win at all costs.

Patterson is twice the coach Miles is. LSU is just a much better program to coach at.
The fact is Miles can recruit a ton of top athletes at LSU. There is no single player that is more important than discipline.
Saban doesnt have any problems kicking guys off his team-and it doesnt seem to hurt him on the field too much.
Miles is in the best position to discipline a player. he knows them better than a fan, but the team will vote for the player every time.

Ohio State is a joke. They'd finish 5th in SEC. The only one who can argue with a straight face they had a shot at Bama was Aggies.

I said months ago benson was cheap and saints would pay for not hiring a new head coach. It didnt take long for me to be proved correct.
You cant just not have a head coach and expect a bunch of noname assistants to run the team. doesnt work that way.

Bama is good, but Ark is one of the worst football teams ive seen. How anyone could have ranked them in the top 10 is a true mystery. As bad as ranking Meechigan in top 10.

i used saban to prove a point since this is an LSU board first and foremost.
Anyone who watched the saints play against the skins saw they lacked coaching. While college and pros are different, both do benefit from having a top head coach. And neither can operate with no coach-which is basically what the saints are doing.

The saints got cheap.
They didnt need to fir Payton, but they should have hired a legitimate Head Coach for this season. There is a reason teams do well under good head coaches, and poorly under others.
Saban has proved that coaches are not just figureheads. Look at arkansas. Pros are no different.

isnt drew bound under the NFL contract to play 1 year under the franchise tag? seems to me he is the bad guy here.
I named my dog after Drew, but rules are the rules. you cant just cry and take your ball and go home because you dont like them.

even though i am a wvu fan in football, i follow LSU a bit in baseball(live in new orleans). I dont recall them being this weak with bat much in the past.
guys starting with poor batting averages. That is not typical of a top LSU team. LSU does have good pitching.

Some thoughts.
UF isnt going to budge on FSU, and USC(E) wont budge on clemson.
Big 12 could take VT, so they may not be around long if the sec hesitates. NC State, otoh, isnt on the Big 12's radar. Why would the SEC rush to take NC state when patience may yield UNC down the road?
I doubt the Big 12 moves past 12 initially. Big 12 will not want to be responsible for unraveling the ACC TV contract. They will take 2 and wait.

I do think the ACC survives. But Terps will jump at a Big 1G offer, as will GT.

I thought vt and unc/nc state would be slam dunks.
But rumors(oh yes those) say the tv deal was not sweetened that much by adding aggies/mizzou and that expanding over 12 created lots of scheduling issues.
If the new playoff is huge money per conference, the more teams in your conf the less each team gets.
So i am not sure vt/nc state move the needle enough for the sec to do it. My bet is slive studies it very carefully before pulling the trigger.

FSU is never going to have problems getting talent. WVU recruits Florida well even from the BE. FSU is IN the state of Florida. Half of their games or more will be at home. They will still have the Gators and Clemson.
Adding Texas and OU will HELP recruiting. I doubt Florida kids will miss trips to North Carolina, or Boston, or Pitt, or syracuse NY. At least when they travel Texas, OU, and most of the Big 12 will have wild football crowds and good teams to greet them. Not empty stadiums.

While I think that is true(FSU/Clemson) would prefer SEC, they may get the best of both worlds with Big 12.

FWIW since WVU started selling beer in the stadium and instituted a policy where fans cant leave at halftime and return, incidents are far fewer. Luck predicted this would happen. Many thought selling beer in the stadium would make things worse, but it has improved them.
