Didn't Miles bench RS freshman Jarrett Lee for true freshman Jordan Jefferson in '08?

Lee got injured and Miles was forced to burn JJs redshirt late in the season.

Andrew Hatch when Lee was struggling

Hatch and Lee were splittig reps until Hatch got injured at Auburn.

Hatch was the starting QB in '08, he got injured vs Auburn, then Lee took over full time. He got injured vs maybe Ole Miss and then JJ took over. No matter how poorly JJ played or how well Lee played, the status quo remained until JJ got suspended.

I'm not arguing one way as far as upperclassman, just clearing up the facts.

Most other coaches will play your arse the day you arrive on campus if you are the best man for the job and miles doesn't do that.

This is ignorant. All coaches choose experience over hype, especially at the qb position. Even lord Saban did it when he sat JR for Marcus Randle. Bama scoop is an idiot.

Let me guess, you think JJ could have done that too? Lee had RR as the #1 WR in the SEC in TDs and yards halfway through the season. JJ? Not so much. dude was a third string TE trying play QB.

You're stupid.

This thread needs to GTFO. There will always be one or two Jefferswag team members that will defend their hero's play in spite of everything that everyone has seen. And it makes LSU/Miles look stupid. Requesting anchor.

It's funny that you call people JJ fans. He was LSU's qb. Of course we cheered for him. Unlike some posters on here. Look I wanted JLee to remain the starter but he sucked in games a well last year. Oregon, Kentucky , Bama game. All were horrible games by Lee. If pointing out facts and reality makes me a JJ fan, then yeah I guess I am.

I love the logic involved. Hate on JLee = not cool Hate on JLee and Jefferson = not cool Hate on Jefferson = then we're alright

Exactly. JLee threw for over 170 yards twice last year. It's not like he was lighting the world on fire. All you people who say JJ sucked his entire career must not remember 09.

plenty of underclassman have passed up older guys on the depth chart. However, it has yet to happen at the QB position.

its puzzling really

only thing I can figure is JJ had videotape of Les Miles and Sheppard Smith shirtless and listening to Justin Bieber or something

JJ is gone. J Lee is gone. 21-0. It hurts but get over it. Time to move on and kick arse this season.

Lee was a year ahead of JJ.

Tell me again about Miles showing preference to seniority.

When he came back after his injury against Auburn, he rotated with Jarrett Lee in the games against Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia. He suffered a broken leg at the beginning of the game against Georgia, which caused him to miss the last 6 games of the season. Hatch completed 25 of 45 passes for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Tigers in 2008. He also rushed for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns on 35 carries. Because he wouldn't be healed in time to compete in the spring at LSU, he decided to finish his studies at Harvard.

JJ didn't get a shot until Lee got hurt against Ole Miss. If you recall JJ actually played pretty good in that second half. He had a descent game against Arkansas the next week and the Georgia Tech game is where he took control of the job, all while Lee was healing. We as LSU fans were actually pretty pumped up after that game for the 2009 season if you recall. Miles bought in and never looked back. At that point, after blowing JJ's redshirt, Lee and JJ were both equal as for as time left at LSU. Upperclassmen had nothing to do with it anymore. Lee had 7 pick 6's vrs JJ leading LSU to a blow win over a very good G Tech team. Miles never trusted Lee again and if not for JJ's retardation before the season started this year Lee still would not have seen much playing time, IMO.

Does Miles allow underclassmen to start over upperclassmen? Yes. But mostly on Defense where he lets Chavis run the show. But on Offense, it's very rare. I can't think of any offensive players that won a permanant starting spot for any other reason than the upperclassmen getting hurt. And almost always the upperclassmen gets their job back, almost. (See JJ for the exception)

Let me take a stab at why he started JJ. HE THOUGHT HE WAS THE BETTER QB. he knew JLee was gun shy.

Richard Murphy was an upperclassman. OB3 is a true freshman and started over upper classmen. This dumb myth needs to die. Les and the coaching staff play who they think will be the most productive.

I think Miles has somekind of loyalty to players that have been in the system for a while

J. Lee disagrees.

Maybe Les just gets confused when two upperclassmen are vying for the same position?

or maybe he remembers the times Lee got arse-raped by bama while JJ had beaten them twice (yea...thats right. Jordan Jefferson beat you twice)

although i do think he should've put in Lee/Mett at some point because nothing seemed to be working.
