Bent over and lubed up?

That's the typical position Gottfried teams take in the 2nd half.

Except the ACC will be adding Syracuse and Pitt.

When has Pitt EVER been good? Please do tell.

Wrong.

LSU fans continue to make asses of themselves on here when it comes to basketball.

I haven't watched much ACC basketball this year aside from the big games. I HAVE watched a lot of SEC basketball and can say that this conference has so much mediocrity that I find it hard to say the SEC is better than any of the BCS conferences other than the Pac-12. We have a lot of teams that could make runs in the NIT, and only one that could make a run in the NCAAs.

That's the thing. None of the conferences are "good" this year. The only one that is decent is the B1G.

The ACC and Big East are God awful as well.

I guess you're right. I can see several BCS schools falling to mid-majors in the tourney.

Last season when they won the regular season Big East title?

They may not be a basketball blueblood but they haven't missed the NCAA tournament since 2001 and have been to the Sweet 16 5 times in that span.

Yea I know. They're consistently mediocre and when they're not mediocre, they're bad. They've never won a NC and the last time they made a Final Four was 1941.

Does not equate to a team not being good.

Point is, the NC State guy acted like they were adding some powerhouse to the ACC. Pitt is far from a power house. Pitt is not even ranked this year. They're not bad, but they're far from good.

But generally speaking they're better than most SEC teams in basketball.

The NC St guy was also talking shite about how the ACC would have a better bowl record than the SEC back in December just because NC St won theirs.

And Pitt is not good this year.

And their football will still be garbage.

Not saying much. We have some sorry arse programs in the SEC.

Bottomline: Pitt is simply not very good. But "Pitt" SOUNDS like a basketball school name, and no one can remember a damn thing they've done recently in football PLUS they're in the Big East. So they MUST be good at basketball?!

That's the thought process of the average SEC Ranter. Most don't know anything about basketball so they make giant leaps of assumptions.

Don't tell their fans that. When we played them in the Birmingham Bowl last year, you could've swore those NCs they won were the previous seasons. They're a major football power in their eyes.

Right now the ACC is similar to SEC football in the mid to late '90s. There are two powerhouse teams carrying the conference and a third school that's very good but the rest of the conference is very mediocre. Just like the SEC started to improve and become great again once schools like LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Arkansas, and South Carolina got better, the ACC will become a great basketball conference when schools like Maryland, NC State, Georgia Tech, and Wake Forest start living up to their potential.
