In my experience, the younger fans hate Auburn much more.

Those Alabama fans in their mid, to late, 20s are going to probably hate Tennessee more. The younger ones might lean more towards hating Auburn.

I guess it might depend on where you're from. A Bama fan in Muscle Shoals is going to hate Tennessee more, a Bama fan in Montgomery will probably hate Auburn more.

Familiarity breeds contempt.

Or when you may have went to Alabama. I am from Mobile, but attended Alabama during the height of all the tensions between Alabama and Tennessee over the Fulmer stuff.

JPW to DJ Hall all day, is one of my all time favorite games. It felt great to have that monkey off our backs.

The entire premise of this thread is ridiculous. The only time I think of or give a shite about bama is when we play them.

I am very much looking forward to welcoming the gumps to Death Valley in November. This one's personal.

I am not sure if we have one. Back in the day, it was Tulane. Personally, I do not consider Alabama a rival.

Nobody. LSU turned into a juggernaut while all of our traditional rivals continued to have the suck.

I sense a lot of fake hatred for UT from Bama fans. It seems obvious when several posters start those dumb "Official I hate Tennessee" threads. It looks like some pathetic attempt to keep the rivalry alive, but should a real rivalry stoop to such desperation? It looks as if they're begging for their rivalry to get the attention they feel it deserves, when everyone can see it's all horseshite.

I never see Bama fans actually flaming Tennessee fans. I especially don't believe Bama fans when they say they think about UT all the time in anywhere near the same level as they do Auburn. When someone says that I just think they're full of shite. It's really not even close, and everyone knows it. They just say it because that's what they think they're supposed to say. I don't think there's been any real hate there in a long time.

My favorite moment as a bama fan probably came when we got to sing rammer jammer to an empty neyland stadium in 2008.

He obviously couldn't come back to LSU because Les Miles was doing a great job (and I, unlike many, wouldn't trade Miles for Saban anyway), but he could have gone to a school that wasn't on our schedule every season.

Just my opinion, but here's how I think it went down. Saban watched the 2007 Bama-UT game and called up Sexton to tell him to put out feelers for an opening at Bama. About the same time, Miles is talking to Mich. On the day of the SECCG, Herbie shocks the world with news about Miles going to Mich. That forced Miles hand, and he had no choice but to profess his undying love for LSU. Saban announces for Bama the following Jan.

I say if Herbstreit had kept his mouth shut, Miles would have eventually slunk out the back door and headed to Mich. Saban would have glommed onto the LSU job. Just my $0.02.

I was about 8 when I went to the 1995 bama/ut game. I remember thinking "it's ok, we'll win the next ten against them." Boy was I ever wrong.

Oh look. An insecure Auburn fan. Don't see many of your kind around here.

This wouldn't impact a true rivalry. When the other team sucks, that's when you help stand them up so you can knock them down again

I say you are about 99.99% correct in how it went down. In my discussions with LSU & TAF board members, people would be surprised how spot on you are with your post.

That may have been one of the greatest CFB coaching soap operas in the history of the SEC. Remember Bama had hired Rich Rod, but Moore let him continue to talk with WV. Moore must have known something was cooking with Saban. WVU scrapes all the loose change out of the sofa and matches Bama's offer, and at the same time, there was an epic Finebaum show where everyone ragged Rita Rod about her hair. Rich Rod backs out of the Bama job within a couple of days.

So... If it had not been for Herbie, PF, and Rita Rod, Saban would be at LSU today.

I'm insecure about how much you hate AU? I'm just calling bullshite when I see it. It seems that Bama fans try to cling to an old rivalry that they pretend to care about, I suppose because they know they will probably win and want it to feel more important than it truly is. Bama fans do not think about UT every day in the same way they do AU.. They don't post about them, complain about their recruiting, flame their coaches, trash their players, etc. on anywhere resembling the same level as they do AU. Are you disputing that?

Trust me, I don't take pride in the ridiculous nature of our rivalry.. But all this Bama-TN "hate" looks fake, if you want to use the same term when comparing the typical Bama fans' feelings about Auburn. I don't recall a 2,000+ pg thread about UT on Bama msg boards.

You are either real young or you just don't know us like you think. UT/Bama was the real rivalry in the first half of 1900's. We didn't even play AU until 47' after 40+yrs between the last one.

More recently we hated Fat Phil for turning us in on the Albert Means fiasco because he got out bid. I'm happy that we don't do that anymore but who likes a snitch.
