Just watching the game, the Honey Badger was owned

I'm not sure I've seen a more hyped player have a worse game since Gino Torretta.
We know about the catches over the top of him. I guess the bad thing about that is that it was leaking out on the internet that Bama was going to attack him because he was weak in coverage. FWIW, I thought he had decent coverage, he just doesn't have 1)size 2)ball skills
I guess the most surprising thing was how he was physcially whipped. And not by guys with superior talent. D. Hanks not only made a great block on the quick screen out to Kenny Bell but he also carried him for about 4 yards on the catch right before the half.
Probably the most embarrasing has to be on the punts though. After LSU's first punt when they had him out as a gunner he was absolutely dominated by a walk-on wide receiver. You can watch it for yourself, but a player of his caliber should never get owned like he did by a 5-7 walk-on.
Props to you Hardie Buck.

Really, just now figured this out huh?

don't tell LSU fans this...Les Miles is the only one to blame for this loss.

I thought it was common knowledge he wasn't a shutdown corner?
However, those Norwood passes were pretty perfect (with great catches) and it's not like he was in horrible position.
He's a playmaker with great ball skills - do people think he's Deion Sanders too![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/icons/shrug.gif)

I'll be shocked if the Honey Badger isn't converted into a safety in the NFL. He would be a far more effective player at that position.

yeah, he caught our pimp hand, but he's the most overrated DB EVARRRRRRRRR

Dre Kirk kept him bottled up on punt returns. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconPimp.gif)

He really didn't have a bad game. He wasn't abused in coverage. Not once.
Perfect throws by McCarron to bigger receivers resulted in a lot of catches by the players he was defending. This had a lot more to do with McCarron than Mathieu.
He's not a cover corner, at least that's not his true position. But Alabama spread the field and forced him to be that.
Alabama's success had a lot more to do with their own doing than any LSU player did. They executed. Even perfect defense wasn't enough at times.

Im sure that was one of things Bama's gameplan was designed to do...ensure he was a non factor by taking him out of his comfort zone.
They obviously wanted to keep him confused/second guessing himself through picking on him early.
AJ also threw some incredibly nice passes that no corner could have done shite on.

I mean, it wasn't that bad, he got burned a few times but he had a few solo tackles too.
But how much can you ask from the defense with the offense performing the way they did?

HB7 is having a pretty good career. Only a soph. Has Bama ever had a soph DB that played this well? Just asking.

I lost count of how many tackles he barely missed and norwood just stepped up and used his size in passing

I have been saying it all year! he is weak in coverage! He makes plays when he blitzes off the edge and in special teams. Hes a DAMN GOOD PLAYMAKER just highly overrated as a Defensive back! Alabama knew that.

owned? that's cheap. We held your offense in check, but your QB was making unbelievable passes. NO ONE could have defensed most of those passes.
Matheiu's aura/legend is that he's always making the big play- strip, PR, pick etc. Look at his career stats after 2 years. He's not a dominating physical presence.
He did make a couple of solid tackles on TR and Lacy one on one at the line, and he was in good position in tight coverage on a lot of completions. That's what he was asked to do, so he wasn't "owned". He just didn't get a strip-n-score.
It's like saying Trent was owned because he wasn't ripping off yards all night long.

If TM7 sucks so bad, why are so many fans of the BCSNC team so obsessed with him?

GTFO.....just because the guy didn't strip, intercept or return a punt he has a bad game? The guy still had several pass break ups and six solo tackles. Why focus on one guy when the entire team played bad.
