“What we learned is we beat ourselves,” Maze said during Thursday’s pre-BCS player interviews.
“LSU didn’t do anything to beat us. We made mental
mistakes. We have to focus
on what we have to do this game.”
Asked if he was worried that his comments might show up as bulletin board material to motivate the Tigers, Maze replied: “Not really.”
“That’s how I think,” he said. “I think we beat ourselves. We got in the red (zone) five or six times and didn’t execute. We did something to stop our progression in scoring.”

Bama played their worst game of the year, no doubt. GSU was bad, but that was understandable.

wow, he's as smart as he is humble, tall, clutch, and good at football

So in his eyes they should be undefeated since they beat themselves

Wrong! LSU got Bama's best shot at home,Bama lost the game on 11/5 and will lose on 1/9/12

Roman Harper said the same thing when I heard about the game in a radio interview a few weeks ago yet I didn't see any threads from LSU/Saints fans chastising him. I guess playing for the Saints gives you a pass.

Gentlemen (and LSU fans)
Do not wait for Maze to be humble...I have heard that he is anything but!

Have a feeling ER#1 will say hello to him.

Wouldn't that mean that Bama is "technically" undefeated since their only loss was to themselves 11/5?

With 1 TD catch on the season against Kent State, it would be hard for any WR to be humble..

He was humbled on 11/5. It seems that he is looking to be humillated on 1/9/12...can't wait!...what a dumb arse!

Thank you Mr. Maze! I don't believe the Tigers needed any additional motivation but it sure can't hurt!

Deflection. A sign of the defeated.
Maze is a douche. He proves it with every new comment. And clearly someone you can't rely on in the big game at a big moment. But he sure does talk a mean game.

So the number 1 team in the country comes to your house, with a week off and with the SEC Championship and NC at stake, and Bama plays their worst game of the year? Coincidence I'm sure

How generous of Bama. Especially their TE.

University of Alabama practice was suspended for 2 hrs today when a player discovered a white substance on the field. The coach called the police and after a complete analysis, experts determined the unknown white substance was the GOAL LINE. Practice resumed after a special agent determined the team was unlikely to come in contact with it again!! Geaux Tigers!!!

In an interview with ESPN’s Erin Andrews, offensive lineman Will Blackwell and defensive back Morris Claiborne basically said the Tide didn’t earn the right to a rematch.
“Traditional it’s been the conference championships that should be in. We really didn’t feel like they earned their spot in the game,” said Blackwell.
Claiborne expressed the same thing in the interview as well.
Of course Les Miles tried to come back and clean up his players mess

This is BS.
I know Maze personally. What he said to me was, "LSU was much better than us. We couldn't have done anything better. All our penalties were because of them. Our missed FG's were all unmakable. Our dropped passes were because of them. There is nothing we could have done to win."
There, the respect you deserve and crave.

I don't see what the big deal is. He thinks he and his team made mistakes that cost them the game, and he has a point. I disagree with him that LSU didn't do anything to win the game. The Reid INT was the play of the game, and they executed their offense in OT.
Bama did have more scoring opportunities and missed on some big plays. But then LSU missed on some big plays as well.
