You gotta believe it's up there. LSU isn't recruiting against anyone in a very talent-rich state.
Edit: Any other in-state schools

South Carolina's #12 in the country...

I would drop Penn State given the current circumstances and I don't understand why the frick Iowa is so high unless I'm really missing something. If it's that good of a job they are really underachieving and should have fired Ferentz a couple times over. Oregon should be top 10 easy, maybe even top 5 with all the Nike money and facilities. Other than that looks about right.

I guess this makes sense why Texas would be a more premiere job then Bama.

Well, that is a fortunate timeline for LSU.

How do they come up with average recruit rankings?
LSU = 7.70 & UA = 17.10?
LSU = 7.70 & UA = 17.10?

LSU may have the best recruiting base in all of college football. You get ~95% of the players you want in state when things are rolling, and theyve been rolling for a while. And the state is loaded with top talent. LSU has been the closest SEC school to Houston and the golden triangle, both with loads of talent. New dynamic with A&M in the west, but we'll see how that works out. Also Baton Rouge has travel distance advantages to the Gulf coast areas on I-10 than the other state schools, though Auburn and Bama have closed off mobile area pretty good. TAF has also really put LSU football out in front as well.

I only posted the top 5 and the 14 SEC schools (as of June 2012)
Top 25 is dominated by the SEC especially the Top 12

flawed opinion ranking is flawed. it includes data since 2001. This over-inflates schools like OSU & USC, while undervaluing teams like Bama & UGA.
You have to look at a job in two ways - 1) past history as in indication of future possibilities, and 2) current situation and how well you are set up for success.
A team that has recruited 4 straight top 5 classes, has more 1st rounders chosen the past 3 years than any other school in the country, plays in the SEC West, pays its coaches (HC & assts) among the best in the country, has 100K+ in the stands, and is playing for its 2nd BCS title in 3 years is a better job today than USC & OSU (who is going to have penalties soon).
I'd put Bama at either 3 or 4. I'd put Texas at #1, Florida at #2, and Bama/LSU are interchangable at 3 & 4.

1) Texas
2) USC
3) Ohio State
because they play easy arse schedule.
LSU, Bama, Florida are premium job as well but you have to go through meat grinders of a schedule every week in the SEC.

Mac Brown should be fired. For one reason he gets more talent than any other schools and still cannot win. I bet in that last 5 years they have had top 5 recruiting classes
