I seem to recall all of the USC hatred by LSU fans back in 2003. Then LSU was pissed that they played Oklahoma instead of USC when OK didnt even win their conference championship. Fast forward to now and it's ironic that if LSU loses to GA that all of the LSU fans feel they should still be in the BCS title game. Some have even said on here that if they lose to BAMA that it should be a split national championship.

Bama you can start the process now, denial until you face the fact you are not and will never be 2011 sec champs or 2011 sec west champs

I keep seeing the same shite posted, and always without a single link or source...When you google the phrase, the results are all from the last week or two, and all from message boards.

According to a thread on the Tiger Rant, Les said that while at Okie St.

I think this is another example of someone making up sources on Wikipedia. Not the first time many have relied on false information posted on what can potentially be a dangerous website.

From an Okie State Board:

quote:

I used Factiva to search for anything in The St. Louis post-dispatch with the word "saban" on or near dec. 8, 2003.The article cited in the wikipedia page did not come up, nor did anything with that quote.

We feel really bad that a silly false rumor is being spread about your fan base and that it will continue to get spread around and quoted as fact, even though it makes no sense.

Can anyone find irrefutable evidence that he actually said this?

No - I couldn't find anything. In fact, he talked extensively about supporting the system and a split championship as a legitimate outcome in the 2003 case.

LINK

quote:

"If we had not lost that one game, we wouldn't have the problem we have right now," Saban said. "We believe in the system and we will live with the system. It's probably not a perfect system. Until we have a playoff, which I've never been in favor of, we'll probably never know who the best teams are."

LINK

quote:

"I don't think anyone will know who the legitimate national champion is unless all three teams in consideration get the opportunity to play one another," LSU coach Nick Saban said.

I honestly would like to know how you feel about blatant lies. This still can't be cited, and didn't exists before yesterday.

More 2003 Saban:

LINK

quote:

"Unfortunately, there seems to be three teams that people would like to see and the system can't satisfy three teams," LSU coach Nick Saban said. "Unfortunately we can't have all three teams because we don't have a playoff."

Every article I found shows the same essential message from Saban:

1) We took care of what we could
2) I feel like we deserve a shot
3) Three teams are deserving
4) I support the system
5) I support a split championship, if it comes to that.

Stoops and Carroll said essentially the same thing.

Proof that Saban sticks by what he says
Proof that Les Miles too is a man of his word

Give me a break. I don't give two shites if he said it or not. Is Saban paid millions to NOT promote his team because of something he said years ago?

And does anyone think that there's a single member of the press anywhere who -- at anytime between now and the release of the final BCS standings next weekend -- will ask him if he still stands by that? Which is it, Nick? Be honest.

He'll get a pass because the media gets all over his jock

I tweeted Scott Van Pelt and he mentioned it on the show 30 minutes later. Maybe ESPN can grab hold of Bryan Burwell and put the argument to rest

Well we don't have that here. LSU beat Bama at their place. They are out. OSU is next.
