Read, if for nothing else, just to read a very well-written article

It is an ESPN OTL piece.

Damn what a great article.

The part where the reporter asked him about what his dad would have thought about the game was an awesome moment. Never heard a coach thank a reporter for a question before.

"On Friday nights before home games, he takes the boys onto the field at Tiger Stadium. The lights are on, creating halogen daylight on the river side of campus. The stadium is empty, nearly 93,000 seats waiting for fans. Tomorrow, this place belongs to work. Tonight, it belongs to family. Miles takes out a football and plays catch with his boys."

Got stickied on the Rant and is now a link on the homepage.

Even fans from other schools will really enjoy this article. It is very well done by a great writer (Wright Thompson) and it is not centered on LSU football really at all.

Just when you think you can't like him any more he goes and proves you wrong. Hope he stays a long time.

A Vol fan on the Rant said it's the best ESPN article he's ever read. So there's that I guess...

The Hat!

Always liked Miles for being a bit off and having some big ole brass balls. Article was a good read.

Amazing how no Bama fans have commented on this. They tear apart everything that has anything to do with LSU, Coach Miles, or the state of Louisiana, but can't find a way to read or comment on something positive.

Their loss, I guess.

Here was the best part for me:

quote:

"How much would your dad have liked next Saturday?" a visiting reporter asks him, standing at the door to his office.

Five seconds pass. When he finally speaks, his voice is low and quiet. The look on his face is difficult to describe, but he seems, for a moment, to be somewhere else.

"It would have been awfully important to him," Miles says.

He looks up.

"Can I tell you something? I don't know if I would have got to that. That question you just asked. I don't know that I would have gotten to that today. Think about how wonderful that was. Let me just say how wonderful that was for me. Thank you."

You don't see that a lot.

Les Miles seems like a good and decent man. I'm glad he's LSU's coach.

Holy shite, great article. I talked with some parents whose kid was on Les' daughters swim team. They said he was very nice, approachable and just a laid back parent, proud of his kids accomplishments. Glad he's our coach. Going to get my gump relatives in T-Town to read that this weekend. Thanksfor sharing

8-0 does that to a fanbase. seriously, as goofy as he can be, he is definitely a standup guy.
