NOBODY is coached to hit the returner UNTIL the ball reaches the returner. Or, you give up a big penalty, and if you do it really bad, you get ejected.
How can you not understand he was trying to create a turnover and you walk the line of a penalty when doing it.

Well...don't worry the way LSU special teams seems to be playing Arky would get theirs. FWIW, it was just a hit and that's how the SEC plays not sure if it is dirty or not since he seem to be trying to return the punt..just bad luck on arky part to not have been able to time it better.

Gunner's are taught to watch the returner the entire trip down the field. You watch for a fair catch signal first, then watch for the action of catching the ball to time your hit with the hope of seperating the ball from the player.
Having played this position in high school and college, I did it quite a bit myself. You do not look back for the ball. You go by the returners movements. The kid came forward with a low body hunch, indicating he was in the catch ball process.

And since you're taught to tackle with your head up, which i know you know nothing about, you should see easily see this. This is why this type of aggregious hit is very rare.
You nor I were there at the bar fight, so neither of us know what happened. I saw the cheap early hit. And it deserved the ejection. And whatever future suspensions the douche gets.

My only question is, was he flagged for USC in addition to interfering with the catch?
Setting aside the actual hit itself, if he was not flagged for DB USC then he should not have been ejected.

LSU players made a tribute to their suspended teammates last week by writing their initials and numbers on their arms, and most LSU fans defended that dumb shite. Typical corndog behavior.

Obviously, you guys have never played. Gunners are coached to break down 2 yards in front of the returner, then hit him when the ball is caught. Not breaking down allows the runner to sidestep. Or, for this to happen and get your team penalized and player ejected.
