I mean simply strategically. The gameday coach. Not recruiting and making the fans feel warm and giddy with bullshite catch phrases.

I think it's way to early to tell. Tubs was great against good teams but would have a let down game every now and then. The defenses Tubs had were always good.

You're just saying that because he owned Urban.

Tubs was good when he was actually motivated(big games). He lost to way too many teams he shouldn't have.

Not an Auburn fan but people make Tuberville out to be more than he was. Yes, he's a brilliant defensive coach. However, he was way too conservative on offense and his teams were always boring as frick to watch. They didn't crush inferior teams as often as they should have. He's like the Marty Schottenheimer of college football.

I kind of do miss the defenses of the Tubs era.

I don't miss being able to knock off any top 10 team any given week but struggling to beat average teams.

Tubby always lost games he shouldn't have. All but one year.

Just off the top of my head....
Arky - 01
Ga Tech - 03 & 05
Wiscky - 05
Arky & UGA - 06
USF & MSU - 07

I say Chiz, so far. Tubbys OOC record wasn't so great.

I will give Chizik the edge as I like the way he manages the team. I like his personnel choices, Tuberville had loyalty disease. I give chizik props for letting his coordinators do their job, but stays involved and leads when required or he see's fit. His work ethic and what he expects from his assistants is far superior to the Tubby Tub hunting BBQ club.

I will always be grateful to Tuberville for the success he did have and brought to Auburn. His biggest downfall was keeping assistants who couldn't coach at a high level for the sake of loyalty.

I always felt Tubby could never get it completely rolling on the plains. Like he would have a really good year but then have a losing year right after as opposed to going something like 8-5 in the down year. This year will be a big test for Chizik. Will it be a 9-4 year or will it be a 6-6. It will be interesting.

Bama fan....but

Chizik > Tubs. 1NC > 0

As we've seen with the success of both Alabama and Auburn the last few years, Alabama produces a ton of talent as well as the ability to recruit surrounding areas. The fact that Alabama was down for an entire decade and Tubs could only turn it into one SEC championship is almost unbelievable

So far, Chizik's teams don't seem to go thru the "we got a lead, let's take our foot off the gas and milk this win out" mentality that Tubs had.

Also, and this might just be last year, but when we were down by more than 10 points with Tubs, I always felt like the game was over.
