The guy who said that about Dye on Fbaum was Philip Shanks. A lawyer from Memphis, not some message board reading caller.
Ahhhhh, Philip Shanks, forsooth.
The guy that sued the NCAA for Ronnie Cottrell, right? Good friend of Logan Young and all that?
Yeah, I can see why he'd be privy to Auburn "insider" info.

Why do you think we will?
I have not posted much on the Cam stories and
I have no idea if aub will get in trouble for the Cam stuff, but.... How any reasonable adult can think that Cam or Cecil did not receive money to go to aub from someone is beyond me. Cecil ask for 150k+ from one school and then later tells his son to go to aub, for free.
I have about fifteen or so friends and family that are aub fans, some grads and some not. 100% of them believe he was paid in some manner.

Guy on Finebaum
Was Phillip Shanks. You probably remember him as an attorney for Ronnie Cottrell in his case against NCAA.
Huge Bama fan. Guy is in early-mid 60's and has been Bama fan his whole life. He is a bit biased, to say the least. That doesn't mean he doesn't legitimately believe what he's been told, but it does mean he is more likely to believe it without evidence than, say, someone from Indianapolis.

DAMNIT! I just turned F'baum on to hear what was going on and all I got was fricking TAMMY ~
Honestly, y'all need to get someone from NTY Foundation to get on F'baum and plead over the airwaves to Tammy and beg her to stop calling in and showing her arse on behalf of AU.

Yea Cecil does seem like the kind that can hide 150k from anybody.

Yes, that Philip Shanks.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. | It has been said that Memphis attorney Phillip Shanks may have the biggest collection of University of Alabama football memorabilia outside of the Paul W. Bryant Museum.
Others disagree. They say it may be bigger.
Shanks' office is wall-to-wall Crimson Tide, and if that wasn't enough, he has 21 lockboxes full of special items, such as an autographed football from the 1962 national championship team.
"He's one of the biggest Alabama fans I've ever met in my life," Tuscaloosa lawyer Delaine Mountain said.

Anytime something (rumor or anything) comes out against AU, there is ALWAYS some back up spin "it was bammers fault" story to go with it. I'm sure if auburn ever actually went down for anything another Stump thrower will emerge to deflect the blame.

Ronnie Cotrell and Ivey Williams attorney, They were filing suit against the NCAA and Tennessee for getting Bama on probation. Shanks talked big like he had a case and evidence but then someone broke into his office punched him and stole all his evidence. Since then Shanks has gotten several threats mostly from Tennessee ppl.

Hey, have you found evidence of Auburn students rolling Toomer's after Coach Bryant died yet? Oh, I forgot, you "believe" that to be true so it must be

This is just the kind of trial/investigation that will hand the NCAA everything they need on a platter. (See, OSU, Oregon, and even the BAMA/Albert Means case) Think federal recordings of phone calls as a part of the Bingo bribery trial...
Even if they did exist, they would have to be relevant to the bingo/bribery case to be admitted into evidence and played, which they are not. And the FBI won't share it otherwise. Sorry, didn't mean to wake you. Keep dreaming.

If you don't want that shite to have any legs, you might wanna keep well known, died-in-the-wool gumps like lawyer "they beat me up and stole my papers" Philip Shanks off of Paul Finebaum's show.

Lawyer involved in NCAA lawsuit found beaten
As reported on CNNSI.com
A lawyer for a former Alabama assistant coach suing the NCAA was attacked in his office and had key case documents stolen.
Police wouldn't say if Friday's attack that left Memphis lawyer Philip Shanks unconscious is related to his representation of Ronnie Cottrell in a federal criminal investigation of the recruiting scandal that landed Alabama on NCAA probation.
Shanks has also been involved in preparing a civil suit for Cottrell and another former Alabama assistant, Ivy Williams, against the NCAA.

Every other school recruiting him, even those he did not commit to, has said that nothing ever appeared fishy in his recruitment.

I dont think MSU would have turned him down if Bill Bell hadn't found out about it. I've heard that UT made an offer as well.

I didn't follow the story real close, so I don't know who offered him money. All that I was aware of was that Cecil admitted to requesting the money from MSU.
