quote:
“Clarke, or his daddy or uncle or somebody decided to take the supposedly denied transfer request to the national media to force Arkansas’ hand. So, we read, ‘Poor Rotnei is being denied his transfer, while two other guys were granted theirs…’ and so forth.
Even the Mitch Mustain debacle and transfer from Houston Nutt’s program wasn’t handled this poorly by the parties (player and families?) involved.
Now, we wonder about all those whispers that Rotnei was being ignored by certain other Hogs the past three years, that those players were in it for themselves and not passing the ball to poor ol’ wide-open Rotnei. When the Clarkes needed them, they used the local media and clued-in superfans who would spread the whispers. When it was time to bolt, notice that they ignored the local media and went national.
A real classy departing, and one that’s disappointing in that new coach Mike Anderson didn’t deserve to be toyed with by the Clarkes in his efforts to restore Arkansas’ basketball program to the level it enjoyed more than a decade ago.”

they've been sitting on this story for months and then started whining after he went to cbs sports with the story so they couldn't put their own spin on it. hell hath no fury like a "journalist" scorned.

I'm seeing a pattern with the Arky media....

:butthurt:
Arkansas fans are something else.
I see both sides, Clarke's and Anderson's in a negative way. It seems they had poor communication about what each side thought about the future of Rotnei.

Terrible piece of journalism. Embarrasing.
It reminds me of how all LSU fans are drunk nutria trappers, all Bama fans abhor botany and all Ole Miss fans wear white hoods. This "article" and the things listed above define each of our fan bases. Is what it is.

The guy who wrote this is, literally, a drunk. For once, and probably my only time ever, i have a source.

Just an average Arky "beat writer".
Move along.

Butthurt over Clarke.
I seriously doubt it.
Look from day one Clarke thought every possession should run through him just like in high school and that the rest of the players were there to be his supporting cast (like in high school). Could we use his shot? yes. Would he get wide open looks on the wing in MA's fast break system? yes. Would he be the "star" in that system" Probably not. So he transfers. It's about Rotnei, always has been.

If I were taking a wild guess, I'd say it was probably be Wally Hall's work, but since I rarely ever read a newsrag around here, I wouldn't know (or care) who wrote it.
And yes, you guys are right. Our sports reporters up here are homers with racehorse blinders.
One more thing: Count me as an Arkansas hoops fan who is glad that Young Miz left. For all his "leading scorer" stats, he also cost Arkansas more games than he ever won with his hurried, selfish, poor shot selection. Most people I know had gotten tired of the annual ritual of whether or not he would transfer.

We will miss his outside shooting for sure. We won't miss the prima donna attitude in the locker room.

Honestly he was an undersized whiteboy who had no hops or swag. How in the hell did he think he was a prima Donna?

Can't we all at least agree that Rotnei is a horrible name?

No, just live oaks in the Wiregrass.
