You'll more than likely lose all 5 of those Top 5 guys drafted. Top 5 rounds is usually a lock to sign, very, very, VERY few ever come back/make it to campus.

Tell that to current freshman pitcher Stanek.

And he's part of that very very VERY few that ever make it. Did I say never? No. I said Top 5 rounds is almost a sure lock to sign though. You cant possibly sit here and say you expect these guys to make it next year. One may make it, but it's rare.

We'll lose two of these guys. Maybe 3, Howard is from Arkansas and wants to be a Hog. Nimmo is most likely gone if he gets the money he wants, same for Fulmer. And you said all of our players in the top 5 rounds are gone, that includes McCann because he is a Junior and IS going .

Then gets 2-3 million thrown his way and, BOOM curveball.

Or something less. Players routinely sign for much less than they want. He may want 3 million, but 1.5-2 million still sounds pretty good to a 17-18 year old. Not uncommon at all.

No, I said they are most likely gone. Re-read what I wrote originally.

You are being way too optimistic by simply believing what teenagers are saying. LSU fans like myself go through this every year with this high round guys. "I want _____ amount of absurd money" and they sign for less. They come on campus, enroll, etc...and still end up signing. "Strong" commitments to school and high signing amounts are usually bargaining tools for these early draft picks...WAY more than not, they typically sign.

Just last year LSU had Zach Lee drafted high, enroll on campus, practice WITH the football team even and said he wasn't signing for less than 6 million (absurdly high for his draft position). Ends up signing for 5.25 at the last minute (Still absurdly high for his draft position). Money talks with these kids, especially when million(s) are being thrown around.

If Howard signs with a MLB team I'll change my shite to LSU until football season I am that confident he will sign. Don't come in here trying to rain on the parade since your parade is already flooded.

I honestly dont care either way, just telling the truth. If he's good enough and gets selected in the 2nd round, the team is looking to sign him. He may love Arkansas but typically any kid sees the $ and takes it.

You act like it's a normal thing Arkansas gets Top 5 round guys to come to school, when's the last time you got a Top 5 round guy to come to Arkansas prior to Stanek?

Yes...23 to 6 is the score of the 2 games of the team that knocked Arkansas out of the CWS last time they made it to Omaha.

Hell if I know, I don't keep up with our HS signees up until this year. We've had stacked classes so I am sure there are a few, I could search the previous years draft by hand but thats too much work.

Wouldn't an Arkansas thread without this guy.

I can tell if you think you'll get 2 of these 5 Top 5 round guys...

I would go to bet you'd be lucky to find 1 in the last 10 years. Maybe 2 if you're really, really lucky. LSU, Texas, etc...teams that routinely sign THE top classes every year, dont bring in Top 5 round guys with any sort of regularity (and by that I mean just one every few years even, not even every year). In fact, I'd have to dig deep the last time LSU brought in a guy drafted in the Top 5 rounds. We got Gausman last year who was Round 6, but that's the closest we've come recently.

Stanek(3)
Eiber (4)

That was just skimming through the rosters. You're welcome to look more in depth by picking your roster year and clicking a player, if they were drafted out of HS it will say in their profile. https://www.arkansasrazorbacks.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPSID=30676&SPID=2415&DB_OEM_ID=6100&Q_SEASON=2010

Two guys taken in the top 5 rounds within the last 4 years. At the very least one of the guys drafted this year in the top 5 rounds of the draft makes it to campus, 1 at the very least.

So like I said you found one other guy...anyone recently before that? Probably not. And once again, it's simply wishful thinking at this point one of those guys make it to campus. It's not something that happens on the regular by any means.

Guess we are pretty lucky to have 2 in the last 10 years. About to make it 3 for sure. Maybe even 4 or 5.

This makes you show your ignorance and newness to the subject. Just because you have some guys drafted in Top 5 rounds doesnt mean for sure one will always make it to campus because he's a "strong commit" or "wants a lot of money". Once again you do realize these are bargaining tools for guys this high, right?

Yep. "if you don't give me the money I want I'll go to college." We might not make it 4 or 5. But 3 in the last ten years is an absolute LOCK and I didn't even dig that hard. So I guess we are really lucky to have 2 thus far in the last 4 years......

Lol, The Indians are not going to throw that much at a guy they drafted in the 67 spot.

He's made it known where he wants to be next year. He was a top 20 pick a month ago.. You tell me?

Why would Bird, a Catcher sign with the Yanks? They have what? 10 catchers in their farm system. Their top 2 prospects are Catchers.
