Both deserved in IMO.
The selection process puts way to much emphasis on conference tournaments. Baseball is different than basketball.

Agreed. RPI seems to have mattered very little this year.

Why do you use MSU? Shitty teams like ST. Johns, Baylor, Kansas State and Dallas Baptist got at large bids over LSU as well.

espn just said LSU wasn't selected because they were tied for 9th and 5th in the west and 6 of 13 wins were against the 11 and 12th placed teams and the OOC schedule didn't have many road games

That was actually 2006, but IIRC someone did say that MSU had some games cancelled due to weather and that actually affected them in the SEC standings.
