And is there a story behind it?
State's weirdest building is the Hunter Henry Alumni Center
LINK
I heard that the alumni who donated the money for this building wanted this design. Apparently the Alumni didnt like the current president at the time so in order to spite him, the alumni went the the completely opposite direction from the architecture of all the other buildings on campus. This is just what I heard probably wrong though.

Maybe F. Maxwell Hall aka "Old Observatory" I guess...
Then

quote:
Situated on the highest point of the original campus, Maxwell Hall was built as the first celestial observatory at The University of Alabama. It is one of the oldest observatory buildings in the United States. Through the efforts of Professor F. A. P. Barnard, the first section of the building was completed in 1844. Prominently visible today are both the 18 foot dome and the north-south ceiling aperture above the west wing. Under the dome, Bernard installed an eight-inch refracting telescope, and for the northwest aperture, he installed a transit circle, a telescope to measure the time of meridian passage and altitude of a celestial body.
During the burning of the campus in 1865, the observatory suffered greatly but was not destroyed. The doors had been forced open and most of the equipment had been ransacked and broken. Pieces of the telescope had been stolen by federal troops, but most of the remaining lenses were sent to Bryce Hospital for safe keeping. Because the observatory was the only surviving public building, it was used to store anything salvaged from the ruins of the University.
Simply known as the “old observatory,” the building did not get a name until 1986 when it was named in honor of retired University Consulting Engineer Fred R. Maxwell, who was responsible for protecting and preserving the remnants of the 1800s campus. Maxwell housed UA's Computer Based Honors Program before becoming home to Creative Campus.

I don't know about weird but the Huey P Long Fieldhouse is a unique structure. LSU let it go to shite over the years but in it's hey day it was something special. It's still on campus and it would be amazing if they ever decided to fix it up.

I like the Alumni Center. Especially considering I always park around Ptolomey's on gameday and walk from the cotton district to the stadium. I enjoy walking by it. Late in the evening is when it looks its nicest, the way the sun bounces off of it
ETA: I don't dislike any of STate's buildings. I do wish they would rename the Animal Husbandry building though

At my campus (UT Arlington) the oddest looking building is the one for the Nursing school. It is a triangular-shaped building (on a campus where every other building is rectangular in some form or fashion).

Probably the Melton Observatory. Never seen anyone go in it. And it is oddly placed in between the student union and a couple of other college buildings.

Never heard that but the donor did select the style. It's straight out of Disney World.
This is another one. It's a nice building sitting next to the lake but it doesn't fit the campus in context. The Bryan Building

The Student Union and the Old Law Center. They were all built in the 60s and look like shite compared to the rest of the buildings on campus.

The Art & Architecture building doesn't really go with the rest of campus:

That definitely sounds like State alumni.

Probably Bell Engineering, although part of me likes it, too:
