Why would he leave a program known for sanctions in football to join a program that is going to be known for sanctions in basketball?

When I hear something like this, it just makes me realize even more that LSU made the wrong choice in picking Trent over Anthony Grant as head basketball coach.

I don't understand this at all unless he is trying to get a raise.

I know UT is a "better" basketball job but that is debatable at worst.

At UT aren't you second fiddle to football and women's basketball?

No. Football, Men's Basketball are the first tier. Recruiting and Women's basketball are in a distant second tier. Baseball third tier.

Also, Shaka Smart will not take the job according to Hubbs.

Where did he say that?

All I saw him say was..

quote:

There's definitely some interest there, but Grant has major concerns about who's in charge and who's going to be in charge at Tennessee.

Can't blame the dude. No one wants to work for a dumbass.

Rather than argue with the ignorant UT fans again, I will now answer each of these posts with one word:

bullshite.

Hubbs' and another Vol website "Hoopsville" -- Scout or Rivals -- just won't let up on this.

Really makes no sense. It would be a lateral move at best and who knows what the NCAA will do to UT.

Every time I think I might stop hating Tennessee so much and get back to a point of civility in this rivalry some dumbass like Volmanac posts something and I remember why I hate that "puke inside of a pumpkin" orange.

Then someone like TouchdownTN will post and I'll think, 'well maybe they aren't all stupid, short-sighted fans with no realisitc understanding of their place in the world of college athletics.

Then Volmanac posts again. It's a vicious cycle.

The NCAA is the only major issue IMO

To me basketball at UT is a much more important sport than basketball at Bama... and that (and the money they generate from that interest) makes it clearly a better job

People arguing otherwise are probably roughly equivalent to Missouri basketball fans who think they were on equal footing with Arkansas

Well,I don't care about Missouri and Arkansas, but you could go on for days comparing basketball at Tennessee and Alabama. Both have had their moments.Somehow Tennessee's record in the 1960's appears to make them more of a 'traditional power' than Alabama, which makes no sense to me. Tennessee didn't win an NCAA tournament game until 1979. Alabama won one three years earlier.

Not Duke,UNC stuff, but I just don't see how anybody in 2011 can truly say one of those two is a better program than the other.

The move makes no sense. At all.

It would be hilarious to watch the meltdown though

The only way this is true is if there's a bigger problem behind the scenes. Even in that case I would suspect he'd go somewhere besides Tennessee.
