No doubt D's is great, but Peaches Fine Foods>Weaver D's. It used to only open from 11 AM to 3 PM on Mon-Fri, not sure if it's still that way.

For my $ I always preferred Wilson's Soul Food on the backside of downtown. Didn't get as much food as the others but the quality of the sides (especially the squash caserole) put it over the top. Plus the lady's in there were always super nice while Weaver is just a big gay Douche.

Every time someone suggests Sonny's has good brisket, I laugh until I cry.

I lived in Gainesville and was not impressed with the food, but for BBQ, you should head to The Pearl Country Store in Micanopy. I doubt it'll make you forget about Austin, but it's solid.

Going to NOLA on Saturday. I always pick me up a shrimp and a roast beef from D & C every time I go to NOLA. I will also be picking up a white russian daiquiri for the Bay Cafe on W. Esplanade on my way to the parade.

Harry's in Hoover dropped off a bit when ownership changed a few years back IMO.

Anyone from the Jackson, MS area? Doc Harry's (I think near Madison) has the best ribs I have eaten. Is it still there?

This thread has been going for days. Can't someone please spell restaurants correctly and the "ect" fixed to "etc"?

Harry's closed several years ago. I miss that place.

n Oxford, apparantly there is some hole in the wall place on Jackson across from the gas station/post office. My girlfriend's roomate said they had the best steak. Anyone in Oxford know about this?

The gas station right next to the police station? That restaurant is literally a trailer with a screen door and has weird hours. It's probably bad arse.

Palmer's.

It's the guy who helped start City Grocery but was a big frick up or something. It's absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. They play good music on the Bose player too

Ok I'll post my Oxford ones after reading this thread although most have been mentioned. The crazy thing is that this list is the less visited places. Oxford has some awesome eats for such a small place.

Pizza Den - Best damn sandwich in town. Culinary equivalent of crack cocaine.

Palmers - I mentioned above. It is a trailer that only seats about 12 in the whole place, but he is an amazing chef and is good for an inappropriate conversation or two.

Emileigh's - but it moved to the square so no longer hidden.

Mexican place behind Obys - It's legit Mexican, none of that tex-mex phony garbage.

LB's - across from Kroger, has great, decently priced lunches and some awesome processed (albeit expensive) meat.

Big Star - mentioned already, but the plate lunch is FIYA.

Coop Deville - Newly relocated to the old Oasis/Bad Boyz. It has good wings (although I think Rooster has the best wing sauce in Oxford post-Wing Fanatic era) and good sandwiches.

This thread makes me miss Murph's.

I don't really consider Handy Andy's hidden because it's always packed (half of them cops), but yeah awesome burger.

Oh and it's worth mentioning how laughably terrible the food at Irie is. However they have a solid draught beer list.

It's like this "island/Jamaica/whatever the frick" motif and the food is just completely mediocre at best. Even worse, the shite they serve isn't cheap. Example - I got a bbq shrimp poboy.....about 7 shitty arse steamed shrimp with Kraft bbq sauce on it.....Yeahhhh
