I figured Oklahoma would have sold some out, and Lsu would have sold more by now too.

@ Texas fans.

Judging by the ticket reservations for the 2012 BCS National Championship Game, Alabama fans are pretty optimistic about the upcoming season. Although the reservations have only been available for about week, Alabama has sold out three of the four categories of seats.
In fact, since the reservations went on sale Feb. 4, just 16 teams have seen any sales at all and other than Alabama only two -- LSU and Texas -- have sold out of any single category of tickets.
The graph above shows the going prices for the tickets still for sale for all the teams that have seen transactions (they are set by each team's current poll standing). The other table shows the best price being offered on the official resale market through the vendor.

I don't get it. Why is Notre Dame tix as low as $30, but ones like tOSU $115?

Only an idiot reserves title game tickets before the season even begins.
Might explain why Bama has sold out of most seats.

Hogs should try going to one. They are actually pretty cool.

This is not reserving tickets.
This is paying that amount to reserve the right to buy tickets.
So if someone reserved 4 slots club level for LSU at $210 per, they paid $840 for the opportunity to buy 4 club level tickets at face value.
If LSU makes the game you still have to pay face value for the tickets. If they don't make the game, you lose the $840.
The less likely your chance to make the game, the cheaper the cost is to reserve the opportunity to purchase tickets at face value. Its a gamble.

To me, IDK for sure, but it almost seems like a bet. If a team makes it, you get the ticket for that price (it'd be way more expensive without), but if they don't, you lose those $$. So the teams thought to be better will cost more. Kind of like gambling, a bit. I could be completely wrong, of course, but that's just kind of the idea it gives off.
ETA: Yeah, what Thief says above makes more sense. So it's like what I thought, but you're just paying for the right to buy them, instead of the actual tickets. Still, the better team will cost more, because it's more likely.

The Texas fans had the best deal on the board. Their talent is much better than their production last year. Their schedule is not terrible either.
But the cost to reserve the right to buy tickets was very low.

I reserved them. Better to spend the $85 now, than to make it and have to shell out $1500.

Couldn't agree with you more, just picked up 4 for LSU (terrace level). Bought 2 extra to try and sell if the market sells out to offset my cost.

you can sell your reservations. Unless you're just stupid, you'll get tickets to the big game or you'll make a profit when it's close to time for it.

I would rather risk losing $840, than pay $2,000 a ticket closer to the game!

Per the website:
quote:
If your team does NOT qualify to play in the 2012 Allstate BCS National Championship Game, you will NOT be charged for, nor receive an associated face value ticket (or tickets).
Please note, all Team Ticket Reservations purchased in this marketplace are FINAL, with a no-refund policy.
I'd rather put that $850 on LSU at +4000 to make $34k ($14-18k if I hedge at the game) and use that money if my team plays in the game to buy tickets and pay for all of my travel. To each their own though.

Selling:
Team Ticket Reservations carry a market value based on how your team is performing and the chances of them qualifying for the 2012 Allstate BCS National Championship Game. While your team is active on the field you can be active in the market!
For Example: Imagine, you are watching a game. Suddenly your team fumbles, which instantly leads to a crushing loss to a major competitor. Your chances to make the BCS Championship suddenly drop or imagine something comes up that prevents you from attending the game. Fear not, you can also sell your Reservation in our 24/7 marketplace at any point during the active season. Additionally, you can view all the current "bids" in your teams' specific marketplace at any time, if you see a price you like, you can sell your Reservation transact immediately and the funds will be deposited into your account.

quote:It's a nice theory, but at that point, you're hoping someone will buy your "reservation" that only will apply if your team makes the game. The "market" after that critical loss will be very slim and you'll be lucky to be able to sell it at 50% of what you paid. After your team is eliminated from the SECCG, that value will become 0.

Yeah.. the market is flooded every year and nobody is ever looking for tickets or scrambling to find any. I'm sure a team that is a lock to go with one game remaining wouldn't have fans who'd at the very least, reimburse a reservation, at the very least, for guaranteed tickets.

quote:I'm sure they would, but why would you want to sell your reservation once your team is a lock to go to the game? On the other hand, if they suffer 2 early conference losses, then the reservation becomes worthless. Again, the reservation ONLY applies IF your team makes the BCS NCG.
