If you think that defense was overrated, you're too fricking stupid to get on the interwebz.
Or you're too young to possibly remember it.
I assure you that neither is the case.
Bama's "D" in '92 was certainly great. But it's absolutely ludicrous the way you Tidesters try to portray it as the college football equivalent of the 1927 Yankees.
Bama's impressive statistics that year were enhanced by two significant factors: you played a whole lot of shitty offenses and very few good ones; and you failed to put away most of your opponents until the fourth quarter, so your starters remained in the game far longer than, say, the '04 Auburn defense.
Disagree? Prove otherwise. I'll hang up and listen.

LINK?
sounds like you jealous, or mad, or both.

Bama's 92 offense could have been the reason they couldn't put anyone away.
If I'm not mistaken, every starter on that defense made an NFL roster after graduation.
That's pretty damn impressive IMO.

2003 LSU was pretty legit.
Nine of the eleven defensive starters in the 2003 BCSNCG played in the NFL. And that's just the starters as several more who were backups that year made it to the league as well. That's the best defense the SEC has seen since '92. Period.

I certainly agree about LSU 03'. That defense was sick. AU 04' was also badass.
Saying that the UA 92' defense was overrated though is rediculous.

2010 AU offense would have steam rolled that 1992 defense!

So why didn't they steamroll a lesser defense?

330 yards and 28 points in a little over a 2 quarters is pretty much walking on a team when they got some type of momentum at all. Bama came out in the first 25 minutes and played the best they played all year with everything they could do to us. Once the adrenaline wore off, yes, Auburn's offense steamrolled your defense.

Not really. We gave up two long, fluke pass plays which gave yall 14 points and almost 100 yards. Hardly equals "steamrolling" anything.

1992 Miami Hurricanes?

I know that a game is 4 quarters but our offense did absolutely nothing when Bama had 100% of the momentum to start the game. Once we got anything going at all and quieted the crowd slightly, there was only 5 minutes left in the first half.
Posted on 1/31/11 at 1:08 pm to Warfarer
they still didnt steamroll anyone.

Demarcus Millner getting burned on an out and up and a fly route is not a fluke play.
