I think the cotton bowl reference was not so much to the score as it was to the players that were making the bigtime plays...aka freshman

yalls depth was not proven, ours is.

Mathieu, Claiborne, Taylor, Ried, Simon, Loston have all played a good bit.

To be a legit number 1 they must think their offense will be clearly better because there's no reason to think their defense will be better than last year's.

They should be good, but their schedule is difficult.

D-Line is alot different than DB though, you don't have as big a learning curve to deal with for learning your assignments, etc.

Maybe Saban needs to do a better job of evaluating talent?

Just because rivals gives your guys extra stars doesn't mean they're gonna produce.

yeah, alot of time between now and then but I could see us splitting vs. Oregon, @ Bama, Arky, and UF.

So your beating of a vastly inferior team this year is your basis for your success next year? Like the bama fan said if that were the measuring stick bama would be the undisputed #1.

Lol. Are you guys ALREADY bemoaning the fact that you are back to being an 8 win team next year?

Since Bama is the other team considered being the top team in the conference, I will use them in comparison on why we should be considered to be the top team too:

We destroyed Texas A&M, who IMO was better than Michigan State and will be preseason top 10 next year.

As bad as JJ has been he will still be the most experienced qb in the league next year and if he can play as half as good as he did in the cotton bowl we will be really good. You can not teach experience. If Mettenberger beats him out his 1st year, well that just show you how good Mettenberger is.

RB position has just as much depth as any position on LSU's team. Everybody else on offense comes back.

The defense lose some key starters but plenty of talent to fill in.

I'll actually be pretty happy/surprised if we win 8 games next year. That doesn't change the fact that that was a weak argument.

ehhh, get off your high horse already.

you had your year. congrats. you won the NC because of Cam, because AU paid him.

Keep in mind you play us in BR next year.....without a Cam.

Nevis, Shep, and PP were leaders, but we are absolutely stacked on D, not worried. Ridley is easily replaceable. We are 5 deep with talent at RB. We have the youngest and most badass up and coming secondary in the country.

OC situation is being worked out and JJ will be pushed greatly by Mett.

you will feel our wrath soon enough.

It's almost impossible for the offense not to be better.

I would pick LSU as my preseason favorite to win the west.. returning QB, quality lines, etc... Arkie losses Mallet, Auburn loses Cam, Bama loses a lot of offensive production in Ingram, Julio and McElroy, plus Darius... So if you are good enough to win the west, you are good enough to win the SEC, and then you win the MNC......
