During the Cotton Bowl there was an Auburn guy decked out screaming HELL YEACH FUK LES MILES at the start of the game. The other SEC fans (UGA, other Auburn fans, Alabama fans) boooed him out.

Let's be real.
Auburn is the Tigers...yells War Eagle..and then there are some plainsmen thrown in there somewhere. When we won the NCG, you better believe everyone in the Superdome was chanting SEC BEFORE the clock ran out. We were SO proud of not only our school, but our conference. (And the OSU fans quickly made an exit.) That's a shame.

Although I do cheer for SEC teams, especially playing for the MNC, I don't like the S-E-C chant too much. Back in my day (late nineties/early 00's) the chanting of SEC was done after the Gators beat Tennessee or Georgia, and it meant "[We're gonna win the] S-E-C!" I wish it was still like that. I'm all for conference pride, but if you are winning the national title, it's time to celebrate your school, not the conference. Plus, there's no need to rub it in. Everyone knows the SEC is the best conference.

That's where my parents go to church still. Visited there for christmas. Church has shrunk a lot since I was there as a kid.

You are no more ashamed of the fact that you're associated with the SEC than the rest of us are.
You should have been thanking the SEC because if Slive hadn't given you a break and didn't do his job, you would not have been there. You won more than a championship that night. You won the distinction of being the dirtiest and the luckiest team in the league. I really don't care that you didn't cheer SEC. We all know you hadn't been there, so you didn't know how to act.
