His answer: "Alabama."

And he probably wonders why no one wants him to be a head coach.

Did he at least qualify it in some way?

Well everyone knows Alabama was good enough to be in the NC game this year and they had the most impressive bowl victory by far.

Yes. OP conveniently left that out. He said he wanted to go "off the board" and said that if tomorrow night was part of a +1, he would want to see the winner play Bama.

He's by far the worst commentator imo. His voice is bad enough, but he's just not very good at it. And he doesn't pronounce his h's which drives me crazy.

That's what I figured. Davie is a pretty smart guy.

Look, that H thing bothers me too, but just about everyone in broadcasting does it. Just listen to Al Michaels. Stop overstating things just because he mentioned Bama.

No I didn't. They were talking about ONE LOSS teams and a graphic was up with Stanford, Boise and Ohio State. Also, Bama beat up on a Big 10 team. That doesn't thrust them back up to the top.

I think Alabama would beat all 3 of those teams personally. However LSU beat them so they should have first dibs off the board.

Lol. Listen man. You failing to mention that Davie acknowledged that he was not following the 1-loss guideline is not up for discussion. You left it out. Fact.

I think this is flawed terminology....

Why decide after the games?

Just start with a four team playoff....same number of games.

Why wouldn't TCU be mentioned in all of this mess in a plus 1?

TCU beat a pretty solid 1 loss team and they were undefeated this year.

He said he was going "off the board" for his pick. Lying little bitch.

It's still kind of ridiculous... Michigan State was not a very good team. The Big Ten teams sucked donkey balls in the bowl season. Does Mississippi State's 55-14 win over Michigan make them a top-10 team?

Bama lost three games this year. Davie is an idiot.

I think he was simply pointing out how a 3 loss 10 win team underachieved relative to the talent on the team.
