Maybe not from ESPN or maybe so but locally there is a ton of Aubie coverage.
Maybe it's because I left relatively early last year before all the hype started. Maybe it's because it's taking so long for the game to get here.
I did just see a report from the Bham airport and they had orange and blue balloons everywhere. There wasn't that much fanfare last year.
Am I butthurt here or what?

$$$$$$$ Plus you don't have to market an Alabama vs Texas match up as much in my opinion. Its was huge to begin with.
Oh and Cam is one of the greatest college players ever.

The big hooplah is that it's history that won't soon repeat itself.

I'm an LSU fan and came to birmingham this weekend to visit my wife, she's her for work stuff. It does seem like to me that there is more local coverage than "normal"

I think this is a big part of it and I also think the fact that AU hasn't been in such a long time weighs in also.
I just now saw my second :10 second commercial of a business wishing Auburn good luck.
Just sayin

Also the first BCSNG where if one team wins it will 100% be vacated

I agree... but memory is fluid...
I kinda think it's because they need to sell the audience on it... Bama vs Texas sells itself.. a lot less work required.
roll ducks.

Thank you for the original contribution.
I don't know about the local coverage because I live in the mountains now, but don't forget this is Under Armor vs Nike as well. I am sure they are helping with the hype directly or indirectly. This is huge for them.

I'm betting the TV ratings for the game will be pretty low. Auburn–Oregon isn't Texas–USC, so the national viewership will be modest, plus the NCAA in its infinite ignorance schedules the game on a weekday night in mid-January. Then too, the game will still be going on at 1 a.m. EST, when half the nation is asleep.
