UGA fans have false sense of identity

Listening to 680 in Atlanta and one thing is obvious, UGA fans calling in complaining about Mark Richt 'underachieving' have a false sense of identity. They seem to think UGA is a perennial national power that should win 10 to 11 games a year. UGA is a very good program but they are not and never have been in the upper echelon of college football.

With the kids that the state of Georgia produces, I think they should expect to get 10 wins a year. JMO.

This is funny coming from an Auburn fan.

uga will win the east next year.
and, yes, they are a powerhouse school in college football. don't kid yourself because of there recent "lack of success".

We technically SHOULD win 10 or 11 games per year. Were you born yesterday? UGA won 13,11,10,10,9,11,10 games from 2002-2008.

it's the other way around. it seems many UGA fans accept mediocrity when they really shouldn't.

agreed. It's hard to go 6-7 at UGA. They have the resources to do much much better.

It will be close between them, UF and Tenn IMO.
I believe people are saying that UF will have a down year b/c of the coaching philosophy changes with Weis and Muschamp, BUT these kids at UF have high football IQ's and are well coached with UM. I can see them being copetitive right away given the spring and summer and fall to prepare. Look for UF to eb a VERY good team next year. Muschamp will steal a few recruits and get some of those decommits back. Look out.

The difference is Auburn fans are happy with winning 9 games most seasons and being relevant in the national title race every 5 or 6 years. We know who we are, Georgia fans seem to think they're on par with programs like Texas or OU.

UGA is a top ten program all time, so I would think they are on par with Texas and OU.

And for good reason. CMR had averaged winning 10 games per season for 9 years prior to this season and was 7-2 in Bowl games. That's 90 wins in 9 seasons. Here's his record:
Year Team Overall Conference Standing Bowl/Playoffs Coaches# AP°
Georgia Bulldogs (Southeastern Conference) (2001–present)
2001 Georgia 8–4 5–3 T–3rd (East) L Music City 25 22
2002 Georgia 13–1 7–1 1st (East) W Sugar † 3 3
2003 Georgia 11–3 6–2 T–1st (East) W Capital One 6 7
2004 Georgia 10–2 6–2 2nd (East) W Outback 6 7
2005 Georgia 10–3 6–2 1st (East) L Sugar † 10 10
2006 Georgia 9–4 4–4 T–3rd (East) W Chick-fil-A 23
2007 Georgia 11–2 6–2 T–1st (East) W Sugar † 3 2
2008 Georgia 10–3 6–2 2nd (East) W Capital One 10 13
2009 Georgia 8–5 4–4 T–2nd (East) W Independence

Georgia's a powerhouse program, they've been down a couple of years but every program has been through that.
