Saban: There's no talent difference between best Big 10, SEC teams

Saban was on a Michigan radio station earlier today, said he coached in both leagues and didn't notice much of a difference.
His exact words: "Well, I don't think there's a whole lot of difference and I can't speak for all the teams in the Big 10 or the north in general. I can't say their (Michigan State) roster is a whole lot different than ours in terms of quality players or skill players or defensive linemen or anything else. Now, people have the opinion down here that teams have more speed but that may be true overall if you looked at all the teams but not the best teams because I think all the best teams have very good skill players."

Can't really argue with that. Talent is talent. Speed is speed. Just because players play for an SEC school doesn't make them more talented or faster.

Saban did say the SEC probably had faster players overall so it's not like he wasn't being genuine with his thoughts.

What was Saban supposed to say? At the time he wasn't going to come to Alabama. He didn't lie when he said he wasn't going to be the coach because at the time he didn't know

Why is the SEC so dominant? The SEC win percentage is retarded, especially in bowl games.

playing tough competition week in and week out gives you the edge, imo. that and i think northern schools are built for cold weather moreso than the southern schools.
i doubt we'd see the same win percentage if we were playing these games outside in the snow

...at a lose for words amongst this wisdom.

Iron sharpens iron. The toughness required to be ready every week also develops the mental game.

I agree with the argument about tough competition week in and week out.
Sure the SEC would suck in the snow but if those guys from up North played in 100 degree heat with terrible humidity they would blow as well.
