That's fine. Say what you want.
Bottom line- Mullen is staying at State awhile now and that isn't good news for Toddy Bear fans. He is going to bury you guys. Next November will be his 3rd in a row and 4 out of 5 for State. Not to mention another probably NYD bowl.
Get ready for 2011

I think he means Florida fans.
Our opinion of Mullen is not very high.

If Mullen was actually offered someone credible would have found out.

Doubtful Stoops would go, he was pushed hard by ND last year and was very set at OU.
Sounds like UF is going down the wish list of coaches; Stoops, Petrino, Gruden. I wonder when they will settle on someone that will actually coach at UF.

I literally am not even taking our rivalry into account, my argument is logical and objective.

It's called "spin"- it's not good press nor good for your Fla ego when the coach at Miss State tells you if State meets his demands, he is going to stay in Starkville.
That's a two way street. It also looks good for State if they float a little white rumor out there that Mullen is "choosing" to stay at State voluntarily.

Not really...there is so much that goes on between agents and the school most of us have no idea what goes on.
Plus, if you remember, there were actually numerous reports that Florida had offered Mullen or that he was the top candidate- then suddenly that died down.
That's because Mullen agent told Foley let Dan meet with State and he would let him know. Foley didnt get the immediate "yes" he was expecting

Haha and where exactly are you hearing this from? Your SOURCES?? Look your guess is as good as mine but someone ALWAYS finds out.

no doubt- that's the way the game is played. Just depends how good at it you are. If you choose not to believe- thats fine.
But before long, you are going to hear- Mullen is staying, he has a new contract, asst coaches are getting a significant raise, State is going to build a new IPF and enlarge the stadium...
and all will be right with the world

I believe there were a few rogue outlets jumping on that story, probably thinking they would jump on the story first because it would be a safe assumption given his Florida ties.
Mullen is not as popular as people think at UF. He was never going to get an offer before Stoops. Stoops and Foley have a long friendship and given his ties to Florida, his interest will always be garnered first.

Trust me, as an Arkansas fan I know exactly how the game is played. Nutt got raises and extensions for floating his name out there with the Nebraska, Miami and LSU jobs with us and now Auburn and Kansas with Ole Miss.
Of course, Mullen is going to get a raise whether or not Florida actually did contact him. That is how these things work. If your coach, whom you covet, is linked to another job you always jump the gun and pay him more to make sure he stays whether he truly was a viable candidate or not.
Hell, Arkansas personally was responsible for getting raises for Tommy Tubberville, Tommy Bowden and Jim Grobe three years ago.

The amount of misinformation on the UF coaching search on this board is staggering.
Posted on 12/10/10 at 12:30 pm to TheCheshireHog
I think Mullen will wind up with it, but he is not choice #1.

Cheshire Hog - you are way too logical and intelligent for this board. I have many good State friends and I like State. I CANNOT STAND FLORIDA! I have never met a Gator I liked. But there is no way Mullen would stay if offered the Florida job.

I called Stoops from the start. I think he is the most logical choice by far for UF. Just up to him if he wants it IMO (he probably does).

Just heard from someone Stoops has been offered, and it would make him the highest paid coach in college football.
Any truth to this UF guys?

I'm willing to believe there's truth to the fact that you just heard that rumor.
And ultimately it wouldn't surprise me if that rumor were true.

Depends on who you ask, but yeah, some people are reporting the same thing.
