Pat Forde grades the Pac-10 and SEC

• Southeastern Conference
Overall Grade: B-plus. The league is positioned to play for a fifth straight national title, which is reason for America's cockiest fans to crow some more. But Auburn potentially could drag plenty of baggage with it to Glendale in the form of the ongoing NCAA investigation of quarterback Newton. As tremendous as the SEC West has been, the SEC East has been that bad -- both Florida and Georgia are enduring nightmarish years, and Tennessee is trying to pretend 6-6 is a feel-good season. And even defending champion Alabama has backslid much farther than most could have guessed, losing three games.
• Pacific-10 Conference
Overall Grade: A. When USC goes 7-5 and the league still has one team primed for a BCS National Championship Game berth and another with a strong shot at a BCS bowl, it's been a great year. Oregon and Stanford are having what may be the best seasons in school history. If only the rest of the league weren't so mediocre that it cannot fill its bowl slots, the season would be perfect.

There is a cloud over Auburn and some of that will spill over on the SEC
But he left out USC, Arky, and MSU on the upswing and undersold how enormous the dropoff between 2 and 3 is in the PAC 10. Oregon and Stanford are awesome teams IMO... after that they have a major gap

Bottom Line:
The SEC has 10 bowl eligible teams.
The Pac-10 has 3 bowl eligible teams.
What a joke.

it's because the Pac 10 is normally so much worse. i get why he graded them the way he did.

quote:So funny that the SEC has 10 bowl eligible teams and we get the lower ranking. The guy just made himself look like a dumbarse saying that if only the rest of the PAC 10 was stronger. But whatever floats his boat.

No bias there at all.
If I'm not mistaken, Forde is from Mobile and he graduated from Missouri. He's not exactly the typical Pac-10 homer.

I don't put much credibility in Pat Forde's writing either, but this time I'll forgive him a little as I suspect he's still delirious from his beloved Boise "it's unfair to leave them out of the NC game" State getting beaten by that football powerhouse, Nevada...

The pac 10 has 3 teams ranked in the top 25 and arizona has the least wins of anyone in the top 25. Apparently he has lost his god damn mind. How is that a good year in any conference? They have one more team ranked than the ACC

You choose to show him giving the Pac 10 an A to make your point? I'll choose him giving the WAC an A. What a joke.

If he really posted that, it is a major indictment against his skills at chosen craft.
The vast majority of the damn SEC West hasn't lost but to itself..and is arguably having an "1985 Big East Hoops" season.
The SEC West's 4th place team, would be Vegas and Offshore chalk over Oregon on a neutral field to win the BCSCG!
