I was watching Dan Mullen's coach's show and he was talking about our game this week against The School Up North, and he referred to them as their new mascot's name "Black Bears" I almost spit out the water I was drinking when I heard it.

Dan Mullen has embraced the Egg Bowl and really has fired up the MSU fan base since being hired at State. I know many OM fans hate him, but you have to admit he is doing a good job at State. Heck even after losing close games people still aren't talking bad about him.

I will start off by saying that Mullen is a great coach. But calling us the black bears on purpose is about as unprofessional of a thing he could have done. I know its funny but in no way are we the black bears other than a mascot.

That's like if he called Ark the pigs or Bama the gumps.

Gotta admit, Mullen loves to stir the pot for the Egg Bowl. I kinda like it.

dan mullen is a damn good coach. he's showing what he can do playing bama, lsu, arky and au every year. just a matter of time till he starts winning some of those games. if, and thats a big if, he stays at MSU, he'll be a force to be reckoned with. if i was MSU, i'd be ponying up to keep him there. i'm glad he's an sec hc. he fits right in.

Alabama doesn't mind being called the red elephants, Auburn the War Eagles, Plainsmen, OU the Boomer Sooners, Florida the Swamp Lizards (wait - that might not be totally right), and some others I am sure. Why in the world is calling you by your mascot "unprofessional? Are you embarrassed by it?

I like it. He is making us hate state more when it comes to this the egg bowl and it is getting both teams fired up...I expect a very heated game this weekend

Because we are the Ole Miss Rebels, not the black bears. You me and Dan the man all know this and the only reason he said it was a bad attempt at a joke that was unprofessional. Would Saban ever call MSU the pups? No he wouldn't.

because no coach calls Bama the red elephants in a press conference.. or stanford the trees, or Auburn the war eagles... or North carolina the rams... they call them by their school name... or by their team name... Mullen does neither

The Black Bears provided much entertainment to the LSU fans in the south EZ this weekend.

I don't think Ole Miss fanbase is too happy about their new mascot.

If our alumni, season ticket holders and students elected our mascot to be the "pups" then I suppose that is what we would want to be called, in addition to Bulldogs
