If my hunch is correct, the football stuff is just small fry to the FBI's ultimate goal, but they could use it to their benefit, while cleaning up the sport, at the same time. They could ok the release of tapes to light a fire under certain individuals to promote co-operation in the other cases. If portions of tapes are released this week, I wouldn't be surprised. They will not show their whole hand, just a card or two.

I would almost guarantee that the FBI would not be involved if all that was involved was the attempt to obtain money from MSU in return for Cam's signing with MSU. TMZ's report seems to imply that the FBI is more interested in efforts to shop players around, not just a single player. Whether this is directed at Auburn is pretty speculative. But that there is more to the FBI investigation than the Newton saga is a reasonable surmise.
I like the way you think. As for how AU is involved, you are correct. From what has been released it is speculative.

The Tuskeegee News? For realz?

It is a rag, but if there is a hint of truth to any of it, which there is, and there's a lot there, and if it is a link to this crap, the shite gets bridle deep.

Check out this link and then ask yourslef, How long did the FBI have a wire tap on their phones before Milton McGregor was indicted. I think it was ten months...way before Cam signed with Auburn.

For those that don't know, Milton McGregor, longtime friend of Pat Dye and Bobby Lowder, has been indicted by the federal government.

Are y'all starting to see why it may be best to hire a bigtime lawyer when you haven't done anything wrong?

I'm thinking that if it turns out that the FBI's involvement in Camgate is corollary to another investigation, Auburn may be well and truly fricked.

interesting link ...
quote:

Robert Geddie, an Auburn graduate... according to the Department of Justice, one its key lobbyists, Geddie, has been indicted.

quote:

A whopping amount of the money flowing to the firm, almost a million dollars thus far, has been paid by the Auburn Athletics/Tigers Unlimited Foundation.

quote:

Geddie is being paid by the Tigers Unlimited Foundation.

quote:

Both Universities simply say the contracts are between private corporations and don’t have to meeting public records laws. Several such foundations with similar contracts with lobbyists have been successful sued and forced to open their books.

quote:

Geddie was indicted largely on the basis of intercepts of cell phone and land line conversations

uh, oh. Did someone say tapes?
quote:

Bobby Lowder, who would like to be a trustee for life, is working as hard as he can to keep his post, although some of his clout may have slipped away when he lost his bank, Colonial. It was seized by the feds.

quote:

He has since left Montgomery where Colonial was once headquartered and moved to Auburn. He also holds onto his post as head of the University’s Finance Committee. Can you image a busted banker being in charge of Auburn’s money as head of its finance committee?

quote:

Lowder also had several of his Auburn trustee buddies and friends sitting on the board of Colonial. They included Jimmy Rane, Pat Dye

I think you may see some very powerful people in Alabama that just happen to be associated with Auburn University be well and truly fricked. I think the football thing is being used for the FBI to have a way to question certain people in this state. Do you think the FBI gives a shite about college football?

Not at all. I think that, in this case, the football program would be collateral damage.

No. But, they certainly care about bank fraud and issues like tax evasion. The football stuff is the tip of the iceberg. Auburn is like the Titanic.

Here's another example: Of course Finebaum was getting all kinds of freebes from McGregor as well -- for his (McGregor's) time on their show trying to push his hotel/gambling before McGregor got gutted. He (Finebaum) was bragging about his free stays just a couple months before he went down ... My point is wire taps can get all kinds of shite, even better than old school, when as I've said, they used to just go collect your garbage before the trashman arrived to find out everything they needed to know about said criminal. (now of course we have facebook). The FBI don't play. shite could really be getting real.

Thing is, that collateral damage could result in mortal wounds depending on what the FBI's investigations into other matters turned up.

Auburn is not but a lot of people associated with Auburn might be.

I think Auburn paid Cam and I think they will get probation for it but I think it is the side show.

I can't really recall the feds ever being interested in pay-for-play before.

its not as easy for people to hide money these days. if large sums, i.e. hundreds of thousands of dollar, were exchanged/hidden in some way to avoid ncaa scrutiny, that would still fall under money laundering.

the FBI cares about that.

You're probably on the right track. There's going to be some heavy artillery flying in the next couple of weeks, and this would not surprise me in the least.

Finebaum participated two years ago in a paul Finebaum Roast to benefit an organization called "The Children's First Trust Fund" I am not sure if I have the name correct.

A lot of sports celebrities and very powerful people were at this roast. This organizations top donor was Quincy's 777, which is McGregors Casino. This organization was incorporated by the Chief Justice of our Supreme Court in Alabama, Justice Sue Bell Cobb. The money from the tobacco lawsuits go into this trust fund and it is about 50-60 million a year. If I were an FBI agent that amount of money would make me look.

Sue Bell Cobb ran a campaign for Chief Justice that cost about 13 million dollars which was the most expensive state run campaign for a supreme court seat in the history of the US compared to one other in Texas. However Alabama only has 4 million people so why is controlling our supreme court so important.

Now go back and look at why Milton McGregor was indicted. (he is accused of buying legislative votes on the gambling bill) People in this state are so stupid that they think Bob Riley, our governor, has a political agenda against Milton and that his indictment was just about bingo gambling. People in this state are so stupid that they have no idea what is really going on here.

Link to the roast is below with a list of their donors. Notice Quincy 777 (Milton McGregor) is at the top of the list.

LINK

Now lets look at the attoney Auburn hired, I think his name was Mr. Gene Marsh and he is with the firm Lightfoot, Franklin & White in birmingham.

Look back to link that tells who all the powerful donors are and scroll down to the bronze donors and see if you see what lawfirm you see listed there. Oh my...it's Lightfoot, Franklin, & White.

Now let's take a look back to our organization, "Alabama Children First" and ask ourselves what that once great humanitarian Adolph Hitler said.

He said, "if you do it in the name of children you can get away with murder"

Our newest poster on tigerdroppings that started this thread may be on to something but it is just a guess on my part. I am sure all of these politicians and business owners are just fine upstanding citizens who are just a little misunderstood.

This is all speculation on my part but the pieces sure do fit together nnicely don't they?
