yup. i am sure it happens so the school or player is not aware most of the time. when saban got here is was pulling blue chip recruits from everywhere. And nobody knew who saban was.

The only person I feel bad for is Gus Malzahn if he truly did not know Cam was bought. He had such a bright future, but getting caught up in a cheating scandal this high profile and of this magnitude will likely make him Larry Blakeney part II. His stock just went bear market.

So I guess the EDUCATION they get while on SCHOLARSHIP is not considered compensation?
If this actually happened, then rules were broken and they should face the consequences...period!

if he was riding around in a brand new benz with 5 grand in wheels with a rolex and gold hanging on his neck, i would be a little more upset.
perception is reality right? what proof?
Miles is a bumbling idiot

Do you not see the irony and hypocrisy in a preacher taking ill gotten funds to help his church?

If the NCAA says Auburn knew or should have known about this, the whole athletic department will be wiped out.

Are you serious? Most of the star players aren't EDUCATED, they are given special privileges and test answers. The really good ones leave before getting their degrees because they don't want to risk multi-million dollar contracts to injury will playing for free.
You wanna stop athletes from leaving early, let them be paid.

So in other words, it's a stupid rule, but people do it and always will. Maybe they could investigate every bcs school and we could just shut college football down.

I think there should be a modest sallary cap in ameatur football. Not much but enough to take care of their spending needs of them and thier imediate family.
Pro rate a wage over the course of the year. 10$ an hour

yup. Baseball has no problem taking them out of high school. Football is a little different, but maybe thier freshmen or sophmore year, they could be draft eligible, and get them at a flat rate say 200 grand. And they agree not to play them until they have a year or two to develop them. then they can sign the big bucks.

bullshite!
I don't feel bad for him one bit.
He and his dad knew the rules and CHOSE to break them.
And let's not forget Newton was on his second chance in the SEC.
And if they did recieve $200,000. I would almost guarantee all of it did not go into renovating the church. I would bet some of that cash went into the Newton's pockets.

Due to Malzahn's relationship to Pinnacle Pimps, er I mean Pinnacle Preps, I think Malzahn might of knew what was going on.
