I ask them if they have a rat in their pocket.

I think it's hilarious but no one ever gets it...

As much money as I have spent on Louisiana State University, I will say "we" whenever I damn well please.

I always say we when referring to State. I graduated there, I watch every game, and I attend multiple games of each of the major sports, home and away. But it does bother me when people use it that barely know anything about the team. I hate when girls say we when talking about the saints. And yes I am a huge douche.

If you don't say "we" when talking about your favorite team, good for you. If you do say "we" when talking about your favorite team, good for you. Bottomline, the only douches in this situation are the people who have a problem with someone from the other group so dont be a count.

A good rule in life: Never tell a bad joke twice. It doesnt get funnier or funny at all in this case!

it's funny...because no one would ever describe their team as "We did this well, but need improvement on this" if their favorite team is Ole Miss. It'd all be "We suck;" therefore, I can see why you refuse to say "we" in reference to your team. Not what you wanted huh?

Ask them:

"Is that a banana in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?"

Nah, that's not funny, either.

Sort of like, "Who's this 'we'? You got a turd in your pocket?"

I get it, but the use of "we" when referring to the team someone identifies with is so enmeshed that there's no real point in picking at it.

Much more appropriately, I have to speak out when I'm talking on a fricking message board and someone says, "Yeah, well, you/I/we need to focus on the upcoming game with (insert name of directional school here) and not look ahead to the (insert name of marquee shcool here) game!!!!1"

Like I'm the one who's going to suit up and get out on the field. frick you, I'll look forward to whatever I want to and it won't make any difference in the team's performance either way.
