I took it as the team having a close relationship with god gave them the strength to win.
Of course I still haven't seen it, I'll watch the replay tomorrow.

Haha... he did say it was a "God thing".

"It's a God thing".
What the hell does that even mean?
Chizik can be kind of Miles-esque when he speaks extemporaneously.

"God thing" is used widely. People who don't have a spiritual relationship use it to talk about their perception of religion. Personally, I use it to talk about something good that's happened to me.

Auburn is a family, and God is a huge part of that family. God even told booster Bobby Lowder to hire a preacher at Auburn named Chet Williams to advise the players on spiritual matters. He lives in a 350,000 home in Auburn and is the team chaplain. The boosters through Chet's non-profit ministry give love offerings to underprivileged male teens who worship God through their athletic talents.
All in. All Family.
Just kidding around Aubies.

I think it was Tony Franklin who criticized how religious the Athletic Department at Auburn wanted the football team to be. I can't be assed to find the quotes.
Tony Franklin:
"That's all they do is pray -- and talk about praying and religion," Franklin said. "It's a constant thing with them, and it's just overwhelming at times. A lot of people use religion as a crutch, and I think that's the case there. Every word coming out of their mouths is something about religion, and most of it is just a joke."

"its a God thing" meaning some things are out of your hands. You guys are digging pretty hard. apparently some of you are way too insecure in your christianity for this guy

That's how I took it, I was wondering if I misunderstood and everyone else was right

I have to defend chizik here, if the clemson game wasnt an act of divine intervention favoring auburn then what was it?

He gave Miles a run for his money last night with respect to looking like a short bus rider.
Dude looked like an idiot in that interview.

If it's a God thing and some things are out of your hand who's hand is it in? God, right? So that implies God had his hand it helping AU win. Your logic is flawed or Chizik meant exactly what he said which should cause you great concern about the mental stability of your coach. What happens when you lose? It's in God's hand so he wanted AU to lose?

I don't know if God had a part in Auburn winning. But I'm pretty sure he guided you in choosing that avatar pic for my viewing enjoyment.

But you have to admit, for AU to win that game was a freakin' miracle.
Or Clemson just screwed up, over and over and over again.
BTW, I did bust Dubose for that remark. I thought he should have been fired just for being a dumb arse.

yes, What bothers me is that if he is and I assume he is a Christian he knows that God doesnt take sides in a football game. So he basically used his religion for a recruiting tool. My Dad and I were talking about that last night. He y if he had said God watched out for our guys and the injuries werent as bad or he kept everyone safe that is great but that was a shameless plug for recruiting. he knows Mom and Dad are listening and as a Christian myself it really bothered me he did that or any coach to do that for that matter.

shameless recruiting plug. Frst thing Chizick has said or done as a rival coach that really bothered me. to a nonChristian it is no big deal but to believers it is a big deal.
