UGA people love Tubby. He put us on the basketball map in no time. Tubby left us for UK which was a no brainer. I love Mark Fox now, but Tubby will always be loved in Athens. Class act.

It would be nice to have another Head Basketball Coach who has won a National Championship in our league. Tubby would be the 2nd after Billy Donovan.

I know I'm in the minority of UK fans, but I always loved the hell out of him, and think he's an outstanding coach.
This. I don't think Auburn could do much better than Tubby.

I would like Tubby as a coach

Tubby is a great coach and even better person, and would be a great hire at Auburn. However, just me personally, I think that Auburn would do better by hiring a younger coach who can sell his program a-la Bruce Pearl when he first got hired at Tennessee. I think Tubby is about 60ish.

Personally, I think Tubby's name kind of sells itself. He won a NC, how many others can say that in this league? One...

Why would Tubby go to Auburn?
Minnesota Basketball > Auburn Basketball.
I wouldn't pay Smith more than MN pays him, either.

Don't get it twisted...I'm reading posts regarding money and laughing out loud!
Tubby is pretty set. He is probably still living off of UK money.
If and when he leaves Minnesots, it will not be for the money at all. It will be for the reason it should be at this stage in his career - for the challenge and opportunity to change the culture of a program.

Auburn can do better than Tubby Smith. What Auburn needs is a young coach that will bring excitement to the program. With their new arena opening next year, Auburn is chomping at the bit to become a player in the SEC and if they hire a quality coach, I could see them making the tournament in the next couple of seasons.

I'll believe it when I see it

I guess... but they aren't a national power... I'm not sure why Auburn couldn't be at least competing with UT, Fla etc in the SEC... we really don't have the same depth of basketball obsessed programs that say the ACC, Big East and maybe Big 10 have
